Time Warner Cable adding 18 HD channels in North Texas {Engadget HD}
Dec 17th 2008 7:55PM I have TWC because I'm addicted to TiVo. I only watch shows on the major networks, so many of the other HD channels aren't of interest. With that said, I've been pleased with my service for the past few years. These new channels are great... although, they haven't rolled all of them out. TLC and the Weather Channel show "Reserved For Future Use" whenever I tune to them, but others are broadcasting. I live in McKinney, so I'm interested if others are experiencing the same.

The $20 iPod touch upgrade: really for legal reasons or no? {Engadget}
Jan 21st 2008 6:41PM I read through about 100 of these comments before posting, so sorry if this has already been said...
The SOX accounting regulations are geared towards appropriate financial reporting, not the specific pricing plans for a product. The accountant reviewing Apple's transactions will review that the $20 charge was recorded in the appropriate financial reporting period. Whether or not a company decides to charge a fee for an upgrade is at the company's discretion, SOX regulations do not require companies to actually make money! What do I know though, I'm just a SOX auditor at one of the Big Four (although, I'm on the IT controls auditing side).
My guess (strictly opinion, no hard facts) is that Apple is charging the iPod customers money because the customer was too cheap to fork over the money for its more expensive sibling.

LCD and plasma burn-in advice {Engadget HD}
Aug 23rd 2007 10:36PM I have a Samsung LCD TV, purchased about a year ago. I began to notice some "white" spots on the set... specifically, on a black background, there was some definite graying of the panel is specific areas. I had a tech look at it, and he said it was burn-in (even though it's an LCD). So, make the call, is it burn-in?
