TiVo lets users buy stuff from Amazon on their TV, all three QVC fans go wild {Engadget HD}
Jul 22nd 2008 3:42PM I'm so confused. First Engadget spends years telling us that very large LCD televisions have a large and superb picture. Now they are saying that buying something that you've been thinking about purchasing while you pause your favorite tv show is not a good thing to do on a television. I am super confused. Are large LCDs good or not? Q.
All-in-one PCs and internet TV to invigorate HTPC market, says study {Engadget HD}
Jul 21st 2008 11:51AM I really don't get all the negativity surrounding this subject. I run a quad HP in the basement of the house. I extend that to a 360 and three Linksys extenders. All I had to do was put an extra TV tuner in and hook two cable boxes to the PC. It didn't take any more work than that. Once ClearQam is supported in Windows Media Center I will at least get the networks in HD. So all I am really missing out on is HBO and ESPN type channels in HD. While I fully admit it is a negative that I can't record and extend those channels without a new PC, the positives still make me love the setup. The internet side of it is a complete add-on. We already pay for hi-speed internet. We didn't pay for the internet connection so we could watch video programming on our TVs. But we can watch programming via the internet. So it's a complete plus that we didn't even plan on having. I don't see the negativity in that. It seems to me that Engadget, CNET and others like it just don't have any love for the use of PCs in the home and mobile entertainment market. It really makes me wonder who is pushing this propaganda. CNET even makes it a point to tell people that there is no reason to have a TV tuner in a new PC. When it comes to $2000 TVs, $400 disc players and $300 portable media players they are all for it. I say save your money on the TV and disc players and get into connectivity and portability that works. Q.
Apple's Remote: turns your iPhone into a WiFi remote control {Engadget}
Jul 10th 2008 4:32PM I have no Mac, no iPhone, no iPod, no Apple TV, and I don't buy anything from iTunes. I have to admit this is a really cool way to use two things that were bought separately. More tech needs to to be made to be used together and this is a great way to do it....Q
Blockbuster CEO to Studios: Make more copies of Blu-ray films {Engadget HD}
Jul 3rd 2008 12:53AM The people who would buy Blu-Ray discs at premium price, buy large HDTVs, buy really nice multi-channel audio setups and buy PS3s or standalone players have hi-speed internet or access to it. The people you are talking about want to pay 4.99 a month to Netflix or go to Wal-Mart and buy a movie for 12.99 to 13.99. It's the fact of the matter. These same people are the ones stealing their music off the internet. So they don't even buy CDs anymore. It doesn't mean hi-def isn't a great thing, it's awesome. Face facts though, the economy is taking a huge dive and it's going to dive to levels you've never seen. That alone is gonna drive business to deliver content in the cheapest manner available to them. Sorry to say it...but it's true....Q
The Middleman throws broadcast flag on ABC Family {Engadget HD}
Jul 2nd 2008 2:56AM That's not going to stop Engadget from taking a swipe at Vista. What's the big deal if you can't record some show. I use four rigs here and three of them are Vistas. I use three Linksys Extenders for Media Center and an XBOX 360. It's lacking features that I can think of and yes I've run into problems. The things I can do with all of these devices make me say WHO CARES IF IT ISN'T PERFECT!!!! Period. Q.
Bill Gates: top ten greatest hits (and misses) - the Microsoft years {Engadget}
Jun 28th 2008 3:08AM So it's a "bunch" of downgraders? A "mulititude" of people who have decided to skip Vista? Where are the numbers on these? Without knowing how many PCs have been sold with Vista and how many people bought Vista how can ANYONE honestly say ANYTHING like this? I now run three rigs with Vista and don't find it to be ANYTHING like the OS that is being described on these EXPERT pages....Q
Video: Viva Las Surface {Engadget}
Jun 12th 2008 10:16AM This is so funny. Multi-billion dollar corporations that have vast experience in entertainment and retail like the Surface. People who create no technology, entertainment or anything for that matter don't like it. That alone makes me like it. Q.

HP's TouchSmart 2 in the wild {Engadget}
Jun 10th 2008 3:07PM Hell yes!!!! If this thing would extend my current media center rig I would buy it today! Add in the ability to extend the media content on the XBOX 360 and I'd buy it yesterday. But I have to admit...MS dropping the ball on that functionality as of today. Q.
HP's TouchSmart 2 in the wild {Engadget}
Jun 10th 2008 3:04PM Or it could be used for all of the hundreds of other things regular every day people use PCs and even Macs for maybe. Q.

Jun 10th 2008 3:03PM I think these things are for people who use computers while they do other worldly things. It's the "other approach" to computing. Devices and home networks working together in harmony. So people don't have to sit in front of a dual-screen hyper-powered computer to blog and read other blogs because they don't want to do that anyway. These things are for people with lives. Q.
