I contacted Comcast, and they thought I was nuts (What do you mean you want to watch a fireplace?!) but they confirmed it wasn't available here. They said they'd put in a request to make it available, so who knows. But, if they don't have it near you, I'd recommend giving them a call.

Dec 1st 2007 5:27PM I can't find any news on the announcement. Google News turns up a couple of articles on the event, but it mainly just describes a love-fest between Gore and Gordon Brown. Nothing about any technology, new or old. The Fortune Forum website says nothing, nor does the British Inventors Society (or whatever it's called).
I enjoy getting swept up in technological optimism, but I think I've been wasting my time on this one.

Oct 3rd 2007 2:10PM It may or may not be delayed, but Rein's comments are completely reasonable. Go read any company's annual report and you'll see a lengthy section where they detail all possible things that could go wrong for the company, including things that would seem too obvious to state (if terrorists blow up all of our airplane, our ability to service customers could be severely affected).
I don't know the precise legal rules that lead to extensive disclosure, but it's at least necessary for companies to say everything that could go wrong to cover themselves. If and when something does go wrong, shareholders can't say they weren't properly warned of all the business risks.
I still think it will be delayed, but we are making too much of a statement in a shareholder conference call.

Aug 20th 2007 5:43PM I think The Lives of Others should be given more attention in geek circles. We tend to be concerned over things like illegal wiretapping, total surveillance, etc., and this is a really good movie describing what it was actually like to live in such a place. In other words, it's a cautionary tale.
Van Wilder's also cool....
