Chrysler's new electric vehicles shown on video {Engadget}

Sep 25th 2008 6:33AM If Chrysler really wants to set themselves above other EV/plug-in hybrids, then they must release the minivan before others. It could show auto consumers that you can get a real-life car that is EV powered. We don't need another hypercar like the Tesla and we need something bigger than a Pirus so families can use it everyday.

If the van is built with quality and priced within reason given its newer-drive train, then it can be successful. My wife does a great deal of daily driving with the kids but still keeps it under 40 miles and day. So, she can drive it without ever really needing to fill-up.

Once the general consumer base see that you can get a familiar sized car that can meet your daily needs and only sip gas, then demand will explode and these type of cars can become the norm.

HDTV shows arrive on iTunes 8 {Engadget HD}

Sep 24th 2008 4:12PM Way to stay classy Panda. By all means, lets just steal all Movies, Music and TV shows and see how long the stream stays open and easy to use.

If you want free TV, get it OTA. If you want Movies and Premium TV, Rent it on DVD. I have moved to this model and I am saving big time on my bills.

The more you steal, the worst it gets in content lockdown, mode of playback and delivery media.

soundmatters reveals SLIMstage40 surround bar {Engadget}

Aug 12th 2008 12:31PM Yes, these will never match a true 5.1 / 7.1 system, but I think that its main use is to give people better sound than their puny TV speakers. People want the BOOM, but may not have the space or in my case: Proper Room Layout.

HT works best when your room is Theater Shaped, ie a square or rectangle room without open walls and the viewer is setting straight in front of the screen. In two of my three homes, have a viewing area like the above was not possible. One house was designed where in the family room, the fireplace was the center point of the main wall and the TV shelving was built to set beside the fire place. On my second house, the living room was a large open space with only full wall for the TV and the room had cathedral ceilings and hardwood floors. (Couldn't run speaker wires)

So, a system like this could at least give me a richer sound when multiple speakers wouldn't work.

China's Blu-ray competitor CBHD brings HD DVD back from the dead {Engadget}

Jul 28th 2008 11:05AM I'm in the same boat with you.

I am so sick of being double dipped, for example:

Alien Collection
T2
Chronicles of Narnia
Lord of the Rings Collection

And I know that they will do it with Blu-Ray. Right now they have the standard edition of T2 and Ind. Day. I own the extended editions and WILL NOT buy the Blu-Ray until I see these versions.

Samsung reveals $200 MediaLive Media Center Extender {Engadget}

Jul 23rd 2008 1:18PM The story on the link states that it will stream H.264 and MPEG4 but Vista Media Center doesn't support these codecs box of the box. (Less reg.hacks and codec packs.)

Maybe MS will support with an update?

Sony said to be prepping PSP-3000 with built-in mic {Engadget}

Jul 22nd 2008 11:45AM Don't see the need to upgrade my PSP-2000 Slim. Love it very much and use it 90% of the time as a media player.

Microsoft doing two new Xbox 360 colors: bright red and green {Engadget}

Jul 15th 2008 8:45AM Hey Bill G., any chance of making a "Blu" Controller to match a New 360 with a "Blu" drive?

More Xbox price cut rumors swirl {Engadget}

Jul 1st 2008 3:23PM I really hope this means a Blu-Ray 360 for Q1-2009 as this seems like a clearance sale to me. MS will only do a hardware update after the Holidays; i.e. the HDMI Ports

AMP offers converted all-electric Saturn Sky in limited run {Engadget}

May 23rd 2008 5:11PM The Big 3 DO NOT want all-electric cars:

1.) They will have a much lower cost of ownership. (Less trips to the shop)

2.) Fewer moving parts. (Belts, filters, ect) Causes item 1 above. Would kill the 3rd party auto OEM and after-sale industry.

Yes this conversion is $$$. BUT, start mass producing these cars and the price drops. As more of these companies start these conversions, a major car company will build one off the floor and it will take off. Wait till Toyota and (maybe) GM bulids the plug-in Hybrids. People will $hit when they see they can get a car that gets 120 mpg.
