Toyota Celica or Scion tC? Toyota reportedly deliberating over production FT-86 nameplate {Autoblog}

Oct 26th 2009 2:12PM I used to own an xB. In theory it sounds good, but its not good business. The tC nameplate wouldn't be a good choice unless Toyota plans to take a hefty loss on this vehicle. If this car is to do everything that it is claiming, it won't be priced similarly to the tC. From a branding standpoint, it doesn't make sense to move an youth oriented vehicle "up-market". By doing so you basically price your target out of the market for this vehicle. I say make it a Celica that will compete with the Hyundai Genesis Coupe.

VIDEO: 1988 Yugo sales video is hilarity of the unintentional variety {Autoblog}

Oct 25th 2009 9:36PM I was 10 when these things came out and I only remember one thing about them. A woman was driving one across the Mackinac Bridge in Michigan. It was a windy day and she was blown off the side of the bridge. I can't believe that they didn't stop making these things until last year!!

VIDEO: Ford Focus RS falls short of record with 8:26 Nürburgring lap time {Autoblog}

Aug 10th 2009 3:30PM I was in Detroit last week and I saw one of these rolling down Southfield freeway in Dearborn. It is a very nice ride. Pictures are cool but when you see one rolling down the highway it looks even better. As much as I want a Mustang GT, I would consider one of these. Plenty of WRX's and EVO get sold in the US. One of the things Ford is doing is transplanting the European elements to the US market. This can be seen with the new Taurus. I think its more of a cost issue to abandon the US spec Focus at this point just to import this. That is why the next gen versions will be very similar. Too bad for us though!

VIDEO: Kate Walsh returns for new Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon spot {Autoblog}

Jul 20th 2009 11:14PM While other luxury brands are offering the entry level/mid-size sedans as convertibles the General introduces a wagon. Way to go re:inventing yourselves... The CTS is the best GM product in years and they intro the wagon before the coupe after watching the Dodge Magnum die a slow death.

Bob Lutz unhappy with new Buick campaign? {Autoblog}

Jul 20th 2009 11:08PM Here is a hint to the brass at The NEW GM on who to benchmark and beat. I understand that Buick is trying to target Lexus. It is not as bad as it may seem strategically. But it lacks focus. Look at the Lexus line up. LS, GS, ES IS and the new Hybrid. Now look at the Buick line up: Lucerne, Enclave, and Lacrosse. The commercial should be the least of your problems.

Here is your Fight Card:
Buick vs. Lexus (Lucerne vs. GS; Lacrosse vs ES; Enclave vs. RX; you have a lot of work to do)
Cadillac vs. BMW/Benz/Audi
Chevy vs. Toyota/Honda/Ford
GMC vs Chevy (Clearly no one thought this "Re:invention" thing through...)

How did GMC survive over Pontiac or Saturn? There is no other auto manufacturer that has a dedicated truck brand (let alone 2 if you count Hummer).

REPORT: North American International Auto Show likely to move out of Detroit, see other people {Autoblog}

Apr 17th 2009 11:23PM Just shut down the state. The residents have lost every since of pride. I lived in Metro Detroit until I was 27. I moved to VA in 2005 for the job market. A car loving friend of mine (here in Northern VA) wanted to go to the NAIAS in Detroit. People would still come to Detroit for this show. Detroit City Council has been a bunch lames with the heads up there asses as long as I can remember. Granhom has become sad with her "woe is our state" attitude. L. Brooks has always had it out for Detroit. Everything was always better in Oakland county b/c he stood to benefit, not the people.

This is why I left, no pride in that state equates to no growth. Metro Detroit needs to get their ish together quit all the bickering and personal greed. Get a deal done and keep it in the City where is belongs. People could care less about cars in NY, Chicago or LA! If the ratings drop for the Oscars do they discuss moving it? No they fix it. Fix it Detroit!

GM releases official pics of 2011 Chevy Cruze {Autoblog}

Aug 24th 2008 9:59PM Oh yeah, I forgot to mention something. At the unveiling they used a foam model. Its the production design but it hasn't been "produced" yet. We'll have to wait and see if they can get those gaps right.

GM releases official pics of 2011 Chevy Cruze {Autoblog}

Aug 24th 2008 9:51PM One of the problem I have had with the big 3 is they build no brand equity in a lot of their vehicles. Every 4-8 years there is a new style with a new name. Just in the last 10 years we have gone from the Cavalier to the Cobalt and now the Cruze. the name doesn't sell the car, the quality does. When was the last time you heard someone say, "that car is great, but i wish they would change the name!" Instead Detroit says, "wow we screwed that one up, change the name they'll forget about it." Dear General, Focus on the car and not the name. Re: Camaro, Corvette, Sliverado, Tahoe, Impala, Malibu.....

Scion sales are down, brand image in flux {Autoblog}

Aug 4th 2008 9:00PM I drive an 06' xB and I love it. I know its ugly, I said the same thing when I saw a bB in a magazine a couple of years before it released in the states. Look right now I get, 34 mpg on bad tires at 50k miles. Its inexpensive, good for me. At first I wanted a tC then my friend got one and I was like I'm not getting the same car as him so I got the Box. It works for me. The 2nd gen was bigger but once they put the base Camry engine in it that dropped fuel economy like 6 points, thats not cool! Visually it didn't have the same appeal to me as the 1st Gen, too soft. It has grown on me a bit, 1st is the better of the 2. I had a 4 door '03 Focus and 3 door '00 Focus, both started giving me trouble after 36K so I'm sticking with Scion.

Pics Aplenty: More of the Chevrolet Camaro {Autoblog}

Jul 19th 2008 2:54PM I would have liked to have seen the red white and blue Camaro badges instead of the bowtie's in the grille and in the rear.
