Nov 7th 2009 9:54PM Hey, check out my amazing thing at.... oh, hey, wait, I'm not a spambot, what am I saying?

...seriously, what's with all the spam lately?

Cinematical Uncovers the Secret Side of Disneyland {Cinematical}

Nov 3rd 2009 10:44AM This was a very cool behind-the-scenes look... The part about the bricks getting smaller to add an enhanced sense of scale was fascinating. In fact, I think I could have completely done without the part about the studio for more about the park!

Science makes Air Guitar Hero a reality {Joystiq}

Oct 28th 2009 3:19PM At first i was going to leave a comment questioning what this story has to do with religion, but then I found passage Harmon I:X in the Bible. And you're right, this does have to do with religion because it states:

"And lo, He gaveth to man the plasticke lute, wherewith man shall play His holy Musical Games. But damned shall be he who rejecteth God's gifts, for it is only the devil who can manipulate the Games by sheer force of will alone!"

So, yeah, science 1 I guess!

Classic Cameos: Matt Damon, 'Eurotrip' {Cinematical}

Oct 19th 2009 11:29AM For a largely throwaway film, there is one thing I did take away... the "*beepbeep* MAIL muthafucka!" sound from Scottie's ringtone has been my text-message alert for years now.

Hell's Kitchen: Season Finale - open thread {TV Squad}

Oct 14th 2009 4:09PM I was happy Dave took it, and I think there are a few clear reasons why he won. First of all, I knew for a long time it was going to finally come down to these two - they were the only chefs with real substance and consistency in the bunch.

Why did Dave win, and why does he make a better head chef? He kept his head and recognized the best way to handle a situation, and always executed produced. And not to mention the dude did all this with a busted wrist for a good half the season.

There were a lot of questions raised by other contestants and Chef Ramsay himself in the finale regarding the simplicity of Dave's menu - but at the end of the day, he clearly designed it with the final service in mind. Kevin's complexity outdid him.

Kevin also shortchanged Dave when he commented that Dave didn't have the gourmet skills - this after he LOST in a straight-up challenge judged by gourmet professionals. Dave showed he was able to put together fantastic dishes (even, apparently, for types of cuisine he's never experienced! winning with his Indian dish was awesome!) and also get down to business in the kitchen. That's the combination Ramsay is looking for.

Finally, I just liked Dave's personality. I'm an avid skier, and for some reason I could just see a guy like Dave running things at a ski resort. Best of luck to him; this season of HK was pretty lackluster at the outset, but I think watching the overall lengthy competition between Dave and Kevin was a lot of fun.

...thus ends my apparent man-crush on a reality show contestant. What the hell has happened to me?

Robert Rodat To Write Sam Raimi's 'Warcraft' {Cinematical}

Oct 14th 2009 3:56PM I've never played World of Warcraft, but I've been a Blizzard fan for a long time. Blizzard has spent a lot of time over the past 15 years creating the Warcraft universe... does anyone remember the lengthy narratives that came in the manuals for the original two Warcraft games? I thought even back then they had a lot of great material for film.

My point is, it looks like Hollywood is being very, very typical here in talking about being faithful to the 'video game'. Who gives a rat's ass about the video game itself? I find MMOs to be extremely, extremely boring, so being faithful to that would result in a boring film - unless it was about the nerds behind the PCs, but that's already been done well in Felicia Day's The Guild.

Why can't they be faithful to the narrative that Blizzard has paid a number of decent writers to craft over a decade and a half?

Hollywood makes it way too easy to be skeptical when on one hand they churn out abysmal crap, and on the other hand turn around and happily reiterate that they can't wait to repeat all the same mistakes.

Activision: DJ Hero's 'diversity' key in attracting 'Hero' newcomers {Joystiq}

Oct 14th 2009 3:49PM Nothing like dragging a little racism into a discussion about video games! Always refreshing.

Nate Drake's origins to be explored in Uncharted prequel motion comic {Joystiq}

Oct 14th 2009 11:02AM You know, I was thinking as I played last night that the 'started in the middle' fashion of the original game gives Naughty Dog some great room for future games. I'd love to see a prequel game, or a game featuring a much older Drake... really do some cool things with his overall storyline.

I hope the release of crummy motion comics doesn't crush my dreams...
