Oct 22nd 2009 9:22AM "One thing is for sure, it seems Blu-ray has given packaged media the life extension that the studios had hoped for." Wow! you guys have to rank as some of the best spin meisters. The facts are that BD has only 6% of the home entertainment market, as compared to the 20% that the studios had hoped for: http://www.thewrap.com/article/crack-blu-ray-pot-gold-8564

Jun 26th 2009 8:33AM "Blu ray is a dead man walking." Apparently most agree-- the poll shows fewer intend to buy BR in 2009 than 2008--that's a death sentence.

VIZIO's 32-inch VO32LF LCD HDTV reviewed: not bad, not bad at all {Engadget HD}
Jan 26th 2009 8:42AM Let's be real -- and honest; 1080p costs 40 to 60% more than 720p; and maybe 1% of the purchaser's sit close enough to tell the difference. 99% are throwing their money away, period.

Jan 25th 2009 5:27PM Kmart has a Sylvania 32" for $369; Sears has a Panasonic 42" 720p for $699. Once again, why pay $599 for a 32" Vizio that you have to sit within 8' just to see HD, when you can have a 42 Panasonic that you can see HD from 11' for only $100 more?

Jan 25th 2009 11:03AM I don't understand why people pay the extra money for 1080p in a 32" when you have to sit within 4' to see the difference over a 720p, and within 8' to even see HD at all.

Jan 1st 2009 9:01AM You missed the important fact that BR is three times as expensive to press than DVD--that's why I went directly from HD-DVD to Vudu--BR is a Rube Goldberg step that should be skipped entirely.
Studios begin to settle on wholesale Blu-ray Disc prices {Engadget HD}
Dec 10th 2008 10:38AM Don't blame the studios for the high cost of BR discs--they still costs 3 times as much to manufacture as DVD. But you can blame them for killing HD-DVD. Come to think of it, they are being hoisted on their petards. As so many warned us, the loss of HD-DVD would cost all consumers dearly.
