Sony announces Reader Daily Edition, free library ebook checkouts {Engadget}
Aug 25th 2009 1:22PM Lots of Canadian libraries are participting... the overdrive.com website has a list. You don't need the Daily Edition to access the Overdrive library downloads -- you can use any of the new models (and maybe a couple of the old ones).
re. wireless in Canada -- I wouldn't hold my breath. We'll be through a couple more product cycles before that happens.
Criterion Blu-ray movies detailed, priced same as DVDs {Joystiq Playstation}
Sep 2nd 2008 7:21AM Criterion's DVD releases are all Region 1, distributed in North American only. Licensing issues. I assume it will be the same w/ BluRay. Beautiful stuff if you can get it though.
Sony's PlayTV DVR for PlayStation 3 reviewed on video {Engadget HD}
Aug 23rd 2008 10:18AM Ummm.... Sony is Big Media. I was looking forward to the possibility of getting this in North America, but the lack of HD recording and no transfer = complete lack of interest.
DIY Gray-Hoverman antenna promises better OTA reception {Engadget HD}
Apr 6th 2008 12:34PM I think the point is that it functions better than other high-quality antennas of the same size. Read the source articles before criticizing.
Infinity begins shipping Classia Series loudspeakers {Engadget HD}
Mar 16th 2008 9:04AM The person that came up with the name "Classia" should be forced to listen to Infinity speakers for the rest of their life.
Disney sells 4 million movies and over 40 million videos on iTunes -- amounts to nothing {Engadget}
Mar 13th 2008 10:40AM So, $123 million is less than 10% of $1 billion? That's using accounting math, right?
Audiophiles can't tell the difference between Monster Cable and coat hangers {Engadget}
Mar 3rd 2008 10:06PM Ummmm... why are we even talking about this? Some anonymous guy in a forum claims he conducted some "test" in the basement of his house. Why anyone would attach any credibility to this is beyond me. Would you believe someone who claimed that they set up an experiment at home that proves that wifi causes brain cancer?
I personally don't believe that expensive cables are worth the money, but this "study" (assuming it actually happened) is a joke.
Anaylst: Wii owners will want to move to PS3 {Joystiq Playstation}
Mar 3rd 2008 5:48PM Same happened with me.The Wii was fun for a while but I needed to move on to the PS3. The 360 was not a consideration because of the reliability probs and the jet-engine fan noise. My wife still loves the Wii (there are a few decent games), but the PS3 is my console of choice by a wide margin.
Poll: Be honest with yourself, are you still happy with DVD? {Engadget}
Feb 6th 2008 10:17PM Don't have the category I would vote in: DVD was good, Blu-ray/HD-DVD is better.
I've got a Blu-ray player now, and will buy Blu-ray over DVD, but I'll still be happy watching the hundreds of DVDs I've collected over the years. I will only re-buy on Blu in exceptional circumstances (ie. Blade Runner, 2001: A Space Odyssey, etc.)
Video: iRobot Looj treats gutters like an olympic event {Engadget}
Jan 8th 2008 8:04PM I'll buy this when it can also difuse bombs and fend off an insurgent attack.
