Poll: What's your favorite HD sporting event of the year? {Engadget HD}

Mar 21st 2008 12:24PM The tennis US Open for me.

Paramount officially Blu-ray (again) {Engadget HD}

Feb 21st 2008 8:04AM Paramount has always had their head up their rear. Back in the good old DVD days they were one of the last to finally accept that anamorphic encoding of DVDs was a good idea. Plus they refused to do any DTS work because they couldn't tell a difference between it and DD5.1. Hopefully they'll up their game a bit and try to stay competitive. But likely they'll just re-release Star Trek movies and TV on Bluray for a substantial price increase. No one minds paying $129 a season...

Amazon at it again, offers up deals on HD DVD / Blu-ray titles {Engadget HD}

Jan 29th 2008 8:00AM Oh fantastic. I can't wait to get to see Steven Seagal on BluRay...

Ask Engadget HD: What's the best universal remote out there? {Engadget HD}

Jan 23rd 2008 12:39PM I'd have to second the MX-900. I originally had a Pronto 7500 which was fun but I didn't enjoy the lack of tactile buttons. I ended up selling that on eBay which more than paid for the MX-900. Combine that with the MRF-350 and you've got a sweet IR/RF remote. All my equipment is in the basement staying cool and out of sight while my TV is upstairs. The MX-900 is a breeze to install (compared to the Pronto) with loads of functionality. Every button can be a macro or have a custom IR command. Each button also allows a dual press ability to double team your commands (such as press the button once or press and hold the button for a different command).

Apple TV, take 2 brings HD movie rentals to the living room {Engadget HD}

Jan 15th 2008 1:44PM Finally 5.1 sound out of the box. Hopefully I'll still be able to run some of the hacks but I have my doubts since it doesn't look like Front Row anymore. HD movie rentals sounds sweet. I'd assume the HD movies will be 720p and some varient of MPEG4 as AppleTV can't do 1080p.

DirecTV intros dual ATSC tuner AM21 to piggyback HR21 {Engadget HD}

Jan 9th 2008 2:01PM Oh I wish Dish had something like this for their HD ViP boxes. Only one OTA tuner is a crime.

Panasonic's DMP-BD30 Blu-ray player already reviewed {Engadget HD}

Oct 31st 2007 3:24PM No ethernet? C'mon, the Tosh A2 even has that feature. Other than that this player has all the features I'm looking in a BluRay player. The price puts it near the 40GB PS3 level. Hard to choose.

HD DVD is more popular on Netflix {Engadget HD}

Oct 4th 2007 6:02PM Viewing the HD genres doesn't mean much to me. I normally search for a movie title then add it to my queue. I let Netflix pick the format for me.

Can we assume that if we add the people who set either a HDDVD or BluRay as a preference that they have both? That would mean about 17k have both, 18k have hddvd and 6k have bluray.

HD DVD and Blu-ray releases on September 11th, 2007 {Engadget HD}

Sep 10th 2007 12:14PM How in the world is Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honneamise a $79 title? At least Amazon drops the price to $55 but that still crazy high.

OmniMount unveils Ultra Low Profile Series flat panel mounts {Engadget HD}

Sep 6th 2007 3:35PM Or you could just get the same thing from Monoprice for $25. Why people spend $200+ for a piece of metal that mounts to the wall is beyond me.
