No DirecTV HD for Vista Media Center until 2010? {Engadget HD}

Jul 5th 2008 8:58PM I have been waiting on DTV for long enough. If it gets confirmed that I have to wait until 2010 for Windows 7 then I'm ditching Vista Media Center and moving to SageTV.

Toshiba remains stubborn, looks to DVD upscaling while brushing Blu-ray off {Engadget}

Jun 17th 2008 3:58PM Well I for one was sad to see HD-DVD die, but that is neither here nor there anymore. The problem here is that unfortunately Toshiba's HD-DVD format lost, yet they won't concede and do what's best for the consumer by adopting the winning format, instead they decide to go and create....DVD-HD...

AMP offers converted all-electric Saturn Sky in limited run {Engadget}

May 23rd 2008 4:13PM I like my solstice much better thank you very much. Much smoother and not nearly as jagged as the Sky, not to mention much cheaper. Same exact performance, handling, everything, and better looks to boot! In my opinion anyway. :-)

Mar 10th 2008 4:38PM Poor quality HD from Satellite? You must not have looked at Dish or DTV lately. I actually ran both Cox & DirecTV side by side for awhile to test out the quality difference. DTV Is 10x better than Cox. I tested in a Phillips 42" 1080P LCD and an Epson 1080P Projector. DirecTV has better black, sharper image, and is all around a lot higher quality whereas Cox was pixelated, jagged and just a horrible image. I had Comcast back in Seattle because I couldn't get DTV where I was located and it was just as bad as Cox. For high quality HD you can't beat Satellite.

HP intros SL4282N, SL4782N connected HDTVs, updates Media Center Extender software on older models {Engadget HD}

Jan 3rd 2008 1:52AM I checked on their website and they make no mention of it being an actual extender, just that it can be used as a monitor for a media center. Can anyone confirm that it actually has an embeded MEDIA CENTER extender in it?

Meizu M8 getting facelifted, three buttons instead of one {Engadget Mobile}

Dec 29th 2007 10:30PM Not to mention based on Windows Mobile. Hate it all you want, but it's 10x more powerful than that "other" phone. MMS Support from the get go, removable batteries, upgradable memory, sdk support from the get go, thousands upon thousands of already compatible third party applications.. Sure it might be a "knock off" but good artists copy, great artists steal.. even apple lives by that mantra.

Analyst sees beginning of end for DVD {Engadget HD}

Dec 28th 2007 12:55AM I see the demise of all physical media based movies, not just DVD. I know that I will NEVER buy Bluray OR HD DVD. I also know that ALL of my friends feel the same way, and all of our clients do as well. (For the bean counters out there... that's thousands of people in my circle alone that will never touch B/HD DVDs). We stay away for one simple reason, the increased quality received from HDM is not enough to justify the need to purchase TWO seperate players or an expensive dual format player that would be required to maintain compatibility and allow us to watch any movie, and for a big chunk of my client base, with me included, would have to find a media center compatible dual format high capacity changer. We will stick with DVDs until streaming media becomes the norm, and I feel that will be sooner rather than later. Both the bluray and HD DVD camps decided to screw the consumer so I say screw them. Streaming media will be king, and I am it's humble subject, the other formats can just die for all I care.
