Scion coming up on third birthday {Autoblog}

May 20th 2006 9:08PM I own:
2004 STI
2006 Scion Xb
2006 Pilot

STI is for fun. Tried the RWD stuff. Great if you want to drive in a stright line or burn your tires up. Nothing has givin me the thrills as tossing around are car that can pull out of the corners.

XB: More leg room than the STI and Pilot. I average 31 MPG and I am not light on the gas. I drive this every day. The high way noise is quiter than my STI - not droning on the long highway trips. Can not deliver many flat panel TV's or home speaker system in the STI. I feel the Xb should be called a micro van, not a car. Love my STI but I love my Xb as well. Its is like having both VISE-GRIPS and a screwdriver. 2 different tools for 2 different tasks.

Pilot: My wife's vehicle. Safe family transportation. There I said it.

60-inch SXRD set at 50-inch price {Engadget HD}

Oct 29th 2005 6:54PM Sony has a 'Minimium Advertised Price' policy. The low price at CC is a dead ringer for a typo. But 'Truth in Advertising' makes CC sell the sets at that price. Sony will just pull all co-op funds for the ad. Believe me, I have advertised with Sony for 16 years, the most they can do is pull ad $ away from CC. Grab a set if you can, Best Buy screwed up an ad for the 50A10 LCD set a few weeks back and was forced to take a huge profit cut with every set that was sold during that time. BB and CC are in businness to make money. Plain and simple. But cutting $1000 off the price is way more than they need to be appear aggressive. Someone at advert. division will have some 'slpaning' to do.

Home Theater best of show: HP? {Engadget HD}

Oct 27th 2005 9:54PM Simple terms: SXRD/LCOS chip resolution 1920 x 1080 Wobulation chip resolution 1960 x 1080 (can we say horiz. interlace) SXRD/LCOS = 3 chip displays DLP = 1 chip with a color wheel. (look at all the pretty rainbows!) And 800 people posting on AVS (I do like the place) only means that they have opinions, not the experts test results. I'll give you an example...ask 800 Bose speaker owners how they like their speakers... Most will tell you they are the best...the reason is they now the name and bought them with out fully looking at their options...Same applies here. I do not have access to the HP set at this time. I do have a Qualia projector, Qualia Rear PJ,SXRD RPJ, some LG DLP junk, Pioneer Elite plasmas to play with on a daily basis. Oh and 16 years in the TV service/sales business. Even an SXRD set is only OK next to the Qualia. Yes I have put them side by side connected to the same source with the same type of cables, I needed to find out if the set is worth the money. It is. Plain. As for the turbo comparison, as an STI owner I think you need to spend some time in the forced air forums before......blah,blah,blah you get the point.

6-megapixel LCoS set? {Engadget HD}

Sep 9th 2005 10:41PM Its as deceptive as DLP sets that claim 1080p with a real chip resolution of 540 vertical. But wobbulation makes it a real 1080p...yah right. Vibarting devices have better uses than in a TV...not let your mind go there, come on now... I was talking about tactile transducers, not the other thing. 8)
