New Media Center features in WHS Power Pack 3 exposed in a screencast
A picture is worth a thousand words, which is why we wish we would've been the ones who thought of making a screencast that exposes the new Windows Home Server Power Pack 3 (Beta) features for Media Center. Our friend Adam from the Digital Media Zone takes us through the TV show archiving and converting feature as well as the new remote console that lets you check to see if your backups are running from the comfort of the couch. Although we're not super excited by any of these particular features, we are encouraged to see more evidence that our vision of the future of Windows Media Center might be in line with Microsoft's. The Cool part is you can see it all from Xbox360 Media center as well

Very interesting (and encouraging) to see that MS is definitely thinking about integration between WHS and MCE.
But, I'm not seeing a lot of clues that they are moving towards MCE actually running on top of WHS, which is of course the killer app that we all want. But, at least they're working on making the two softwares talk to each other on a lower level. I suppose once they have some functionality built out, it would be fairly insignificant to make their apps talk over the Messenger service instead of over TCP.
Looks like PP3 for WHS will make MCE a more powerful client of WHS, but MS if you're listening, please make MCE run right on top of WHS! We don't want another box doing the recording work any more. We just want the one WHS box serving up data and recording from TV directly, then we can throw an extender or streaming receiver (or even nettop PC) over in the entertainment center.

I wonder why they went .wmv for the Zune file. I wonder if there is a registry setting to change file types (to say .mp4/h.264) to make it more compatible with other players, especially since the new wtv format would be h.264 for HDTV anyway as I understand things.
Not a huge deal as their are other ways to do it for people who want to dig in a bit (DVRMStoolbox).

I am a huge SageTV fan, but they have been slow on some things. Maybe some competition from MS will get them to move along quicker. I'm still waiting on native Netflix (no PlayOn) support for Sage...

You said it Richard Glitter. That's what Ive been waiting for, along with play to within wmc so I can pause then resume in another room like you can with uverse. Combine that with emucenter app and being able to watch blu ray iso files within wmc and that would be the dream setup. oh and also a setup like Richard said "small netops as thin quite mountable pcs" Is that asking for much??
