300: The Complete Experience double dips on Blu-ray July 21
It appears Warner has finally gotten around to this double dip, with the (re)release of 300: The Complete Experience. For fans (who will probably be in stores at launch July 21 picking up Zack Snyder's Watchmen: Director's Cut) there should be plenty to make up for the extras left out last time around. Besides the formerly HD DVD-only blue screen picture-in-picture video track, there's three new Blu-ray exclusive PiP features: Creating a Legend, Bringing the legend to Life and The History Behind the Myth. No word on price, but the three disc set will include a digital copy DVD, BD-Live My Community Screening and My WB Commentary support, all the old extras included with previous releases, a Dolby TrueHD soundtrack and 50 page collectible booklet. That enough to get you to buy again?

Right Now current 300 is selling 17 new and like 12 for used, so you basically are paying aleast 10-15 dollar more than current version, as far as transfer, it remain the same except the audio, i would wait till review first i pull the trigger, i don't like grain effect and hope they remove it.

Just because the filmmaker makes a particular decision, it doesn't necessarily mean it's right, like the rest of us, they can make a cock up as well.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions.

Sorry, that was replying to Roger

With Richard, if 300 had an option that removed the digital grain effect, I'd double dip. Otherwise, notsomuch...
Roger @ May 15th 2009 8:17AM
That's just silly. The grain was intended...it was the director's desired look. If you remove the grain...you change the film. The film doesn't belong to you and it isn't your decision to make. Respect the filmmaker and respect the grain.

I agree, the film grain killed the movie in my opinion... I want a option to turn it off, most games today give that option to remove the grain. Granted this is a movie intended for it, still im sure im not the only one who thinks it looks horrible on a HDTV set where the grain is reeaallly noticeable.

this would be a "tripple-dip" for some like me! (users who got the HD-DVD version & then Blu-ray when ahem, hd-dvd failed)!
Snake Robot Podium @ May 15th 2009 7:58AM
I want to get this just to scare people wth those creepy Leonidas eyes.
Evan @ May 15th 2009 8:16AM
I would think a "complete experience" should include the original graphic novel on which the movie is based!
Mojo_Yugen @ May 15th 2009 9:11AM
Wait for the super-deluxe-more-than-complete-triple-dip edition coming in about 3 months.
I'm just waiting for a studio to just actual title one of these something like "300 - the double dip edition". At least then I'd respect their honesty.
WebDev511 @ May 15th 2009 10:21AM
I have to agree with Evan, that a true COMPLETE experience would include the graphic novel, not just a digi-book.
Those of you that never went purple are in for a treat. If WB is doing a direct port of the PiP features from the HD DVD version, then you'll get to see what had those of us in the red/purple camp so enthused almost two years a go. Too bad this isn't the version WB is offering in their Red2Blu offer.
Cap Bd @ May 15th 2009 9:08AM
I will happily double dip this one. I love Warner's digibook series, and 3 pop tracks sounds pretty cool.
As for grain removal advocates, you guys may not realize it, but end is why so many classic bds look soft. I'll take all the grain if it's the filmmaker's intent.
JimC @ May 15th 2009 12:02PM
I'm with you. I want the BD version to look as close as possible to the theatrical version (content excluded for extended release versions of movies). If the movie was grainy at the theater cause of the film maker's vision, then I want it to look exactly the same on my BD system. Except of course when Starwars Episode 1 arrives on BD, a "remove Jar Jar" option would be nice :-)
LANTERN OF ASH @ May 15th 2009 10:10AM
I just hate the god damn book thing they're doing. Put it in a regular case and put the book on the freaking disc please, no one is going to look at it.

The Green-Screen PIP on the HD-DVD is one of my favorite extras of all time. If my HD-DVD player ever goes belly up, I'll double dip, otherwise, I'll stick with what I have.
mntwister @ May 15th 2009 1:29PM
I'll stick with the first edition, it has some extras, plus it has 2 lossless audio tracks instead of one. The new edition has Dolby True HD only, and the first Blu-ray edition also has PCM 5.1 audio encoded at about 5mbps (the Dolby True is 1.8 to 2 mbps). While some will say that they are identical, I don't find that to be true.I always use the PCM if there is a choice! There is no compressing and decompressing and the more you alter a signal,, even if it decompresses back to normal, the more chance it will not be as good! PCM has no compression at all! I'd rather have the best quality than more extras because it's the movie I will be watching.
EdgeOne @ May 15th 2009 4:36PM
I'll sell you my special addition HD-DVD copy for the low, low price of $9.99
nick @ May 15th 2009 4:55PM
This is one of the major reasons why I don't buy discs anymore. I got tired of the subsequent releases with additional features for more money.
And after all the postering with Blu-Ray holding more content, vendors are still releasing multi-disc content. It'll never end...
Kevin @ May 16th 2009 1:36PM
Am I the only one who absolutely loathes the picture-in-picture "feature?"
Extra content is awesome, but just give me the option to watch each extra individually (or a play all) from the extras / special features menu!
Nick @ May 17th 2009 1:40AM
Who would want to own that piece of shit movie once, much less 3 times?
