Verizon tells what to expect from FiOS TV in the future
During a media briefing in Washington, Gear Live got a few details on what Verizon plans next for its FiOS TV service (beyond continuing its inexorable spread that we track weekly, of course.) No details or additional pics on the 1080p VOD packing, widescreen HD menus peeped earlier, but they did confirm 1080p is "a couple of software revisions away." In the nearer future, expect Facebook and Twitter widgets that key into what you're watching, plus video streaming in the home media manager and the possibility of Slingbox-style streaming from FiOS TV Central, once the appropriate agreements are signed, of course.

They are hands down, the ultimate TV provider. When will cable co's learn?

What? Are you kidding? These are all features DIRECTV (and some even Dish) have had for at least a year now.

FiOS trumps all when it comes to picture quality, which is pretty important around this neck of the internet woods.
The only people in my ares (NoVA) that have switched from dish to FiOS and not found it a million times better are people who missed some of the fancy sports packages only dish has.

Coming from a supervisor at a FiOS tech support call center, it is a huge relief to hear somebody say that, so I thank you. Naturally all I hear about are the problems with it, but the problems we get only make up about 3% of the customer base. It's hard to see past that sometimes, so I really do appreciate that comment. It makes my job that much more worthwhile.

Does that mean they plan on having keyboard support? T9 texting with an IR remote is painful and not even close to the same as on a cell phone.

@tony
Well I don't see Dish or DirecTV offering 20 or 50mbps bundled internet and phone packages either.
But true the guide / set top functionality in Dish and or DirecTV far surpass what's on cable. Too bad the Cable guys can't even compete in this arena.

Now if only they carried more HD channels that cable providers usually have.
Cartoon Network, Comedy Central, the list goes on and on of HD channels they don't have but quite a few others do. Their whole tons of HD channels mumbo-jumbo applies to all the no-name channels that have nothing to watch.
