Marvel vs. Capcom 2's HD upgrade explained
Making us a little more comfortable with the slow death of S-Video is the news that the Sega Dreamcast version of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is coming to the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. With its introduction to the HD console era, Capcom's had to make some changes to the classic, although it isn't getting a full frame by frame rework like Super Street Fighter II HD Remix, producer Rey Jimenez blogged about some of the updates, including the three options for sprite filtering seen above to keep things sharp in 1080p. Also new for 2009 is widescreen support (the stages are still the same size) with notes from two prominent player promising "the same game, only prettier." The only real question now is which game is next?

At least it's doesn't look like the Puzzle Fighter HD Remix.. After seeing larger pictures, I can live with this.

This game most certainly deserved to be re-worked like Street Fighter II.
Gillfigno @ Apr 29th 2009 5:16PM
It took them over a year to do Street Fighter 2 HD, which has like, 17 characters with way less animation than this game, (plus they cut many frames out for the HD version) So, if they were to "HD" Marvel Vs. Capcom 2, which has I think 54 characaters, it would take them like, 7 years.

i'd prefer mvsc1

Welcome to classic emulator options that have existed for a decade.
corey smith @ Apr 30th 2009 1:16PM
yeah, right. i'd like to see this run smoothly on an emulator...

Are you kidding? This is very easily possible on emulators. Running Mame doesn't require a high end PC at all. Far from it. A computer for sub $200.00 can run Mame.

I'm not seeing much of a difference between "smooth" and "crisp".

Well geez if it's going to be blurry like that, I think I'll just keep the Classic setting. Either full HD rework, or Classic mode for me.
