The
100 episode limited edition high definition reintroduction of
DragonBall Z has a name:
DragonBall Kai, and a fresh HD trailer, embedded and lovingly fansubbed after the jump. More details have come out about the series since it was revealed, with the backers still emphasizing "no cropping" of original scenes, renewed opening and closing music plus re-recorded background songs. Just 24 more days to go.

DBZ just sounds better in Japanese.

Well, the logo in the corner looks sharp as a tack. The video...not so much.

I'm wondering if they really drew all of those shots in widescreen back in 1989.

That's what I'm wondering. They say there's no cropping -- which is what pissed everyone off about the widescreen DVD releases -- yet that's most definitely in widescreen.

Is it just me or is this upscaled sd with hd text?

I 2nd that... it really doesn't look that great... I'm excited about April 5th!! I'm sure it'll be fansubbed, which is sweet.

If you've seen any of the movie re-releases that are available in HD, they actually don't look bad.

It definitely doesn't look nearly as awesome as I had perhaps hoped. I guess that my 31 year streak of not watching DragonBall will continue.

I'm going to need a BETTER reason to spend a few $100 of the BD set of this than the video that is shown. Honestly that quality looks no better than the DVD. Sad because the BD DBZ Movies look better
