It's late February which means
it's time for Yamaha to roll out new receiver models across its bread-and-butter RX-V receiver lineup. Right on cue, Yammy has introduced five refreshed models, ranging from the RX-V765 to the RX-V365. The top four models now feature 4 HDMI inputs, and 1080p upscaling of analog inputs has now been sprinkled across the top three models. On the audio side, all models save the RX-V365 now play nice with Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA. One thing is for sure -- with prices ranging from $650 to $250, these features combined with Yamaha's typically solid performance will put a lot of pressure on other offerings, both in the Yamaha family and out. Hit the links for full details on the model of your dreams.

The RX-V665 only weighs 18 lbs. which is about 7 lbs. less than last year's model (RX-V663). They are cutting costs across the line. You may want to pick up one of the 2008 models if you are concerned about quality.

Power is now at 90W instead of 95W. The RX-V663 is taller too, looks like the amp from last year model is only in the RX-V765 now, I wonder why the RX-V665 is still listed as Digital ToP-ART...

So much for HD Radio...
Also, kinda skimping on power. At least they've got upscaling and Deep Color

I also heard that the RX-V765 is considered the replacement model for last year's RX-V663. Apparently a model like RX-V1065 will replace last year's RX-V863.

Whoa, the trademark Yamaha yellow display is gone. That's a little weird, actually.

This news is over a month old. Good work Engadget!
I do like how they got rid of the outdated 70's amber LED's. Sucks that the V765 doesn't have HD radio. I also hope that they updated the GUI.

I noticed that they are scaling back on Component Video inputs.

It doesn't even have S-Video inputs, I believe.

None of the new Yamaha receivers have the ability to re-assign audio inputs. Also If you want to use HDMI then your audio must pass through HDMI because there are no audio inputs assigned to the HDMI connections. wonderful....
