Samsung's BD-P2500 has been on store shelves for a bit now, but given that we just got one in for our HD Netflix roundup, we figured we'd unbox it all proper like and give you a look. The gallery's just below for your perusal.

I have this player. Except for the slow startup times it's been good.

I've got the BD-2550, which I purchased exclusively for the Pandora feature. Let me tell you one very STUPID thing about it.. When playing music VIA Pandora, after a few minutes of inactivity, the player goes into screen saver mode.. and a very annoying Samsung logo bounces around my tv. IT's A DLP TV MADE BY SAMSUNG! I don't need a screen saver! But alas, there is no way to turn it off.. Other than that, I like the player.. But common Samsung! Everytime there is a firmware update (about every month or so) I hold my breath....

I actually like the screensaver feature for Pandora that I have connected to my Samsung LCD (as I feel it's better to have a screensaver than to burn the image into the screen). Maybe it would be best if there was an option to turn it on or off. Or it would be cool if there were visualizations of some sort...

I have this player too and a Samsung TV. What I REALLY don't like about the Pandora feature is that I can't turn off the TV without shutting down the BD player. Once I have my "station" selected why do I need to leave the TV on to listen to the audio that is running through my receiver? It's just a waste.

I'm having the exact opposite problem. I have NO screen saver. I really want one on my Plasma, and it never seems to turn on. Any ideas?

Peter - I think you should be be able to shut off the TV and leave the 2500/2550 on. If you can't, turn the Any-Net thing off in the player settings (That's whats coupling the 2 of them to turn on and off together). Of course, you loose the benefits of having them talk to each other and automatically turn to the right input on the tv, etc.

Thats good samsung have a new blu-ray player out but if you have a old player like the ( BD-UP5000 ) forget it no new firmware updates and if you ask them you get no comment from the samsung customer service for a Profile 1.1 player to be upgraded to Profile 2.0 via firmware then BD-Live will work

I decided not to skimp and not buy one of the "cheapo" entry level bluray players after hearing how slow most were and also how most were stripped of inputs and other functions.After doing alot of research, talking with a friend who bought this bluray player, and after trying out several units in the stores themselves, i decided that the Samsung BD-P2500 was the best Bluray player features/quality vs. cost and i've been extremely happy with the player since the day i picked it up.Not only is the color,picture, dvd upscaling better than most other bluray players, it blows away the new Sony BD350 AND BD550.

One piece of advice.The BD-P2500 IS NOT for the novice or someone that doesn't want to spend the extra money(over a bargain/starter bluray player)for a Home Theater quality,profile 2.0 Bluray player.It has ALOT of features that require some learning to get to know how to use(
like the ability to upgrade the firmware with a usb 2.0 memory stick and pc.
