Blu-ray releases on January 20th 2009

Many are more excited about the inauguration than this week's Blu-ray releases, but there are a few good movies. The most interesting to us Universal's The Express, but then again we're a sucker for football movies. Next up is Max Payne, which looks fun, but has a really bad IMDB score of 5.6. Just about every studio has at least a few movies this week, but another worth mentioning is a catch-up title for Blu-ray from Universal in the way of King Kong. Next week is about the same with one hot day-and-date like Pride and Glory and a few great catalogues like The Bourne Collection.- The Express (Universal)

The Express was a pretty cool movie. I watched that just this past Saturday. And it's even cooler when I'm from the same town (Elmira) and just down the road from it now. I even went to Ernie Davis Jr High. But the movie actually turned out better than I had expected. There were some iffy reviews, but I liked it.
Max Payne is also awesome. Movies like that you have to take for what they are. This one happens to be based on a video game. Once you accept that part, just enjoy the action.

Oh, come on. I've been majorly tweaking for six months in anticipation of Repo! on Bluray. Quite frankly I hated Rocky Horror, but thanks to Sweeney Todd and Dr Horrible I can appreciate an offbeat musical now (so long as it doesnt have annoying Transylvanian transvestites).
Sure, it wont make any record sales, but its destined for cult status. I'm just glad they finally decided to release on bluray, for a while there, they were saying it wouldn't be coming to bluray.
Max Payne was okay in my opinion. I might pick it up for 15 bucks in a year.

I'm picking up The Notebook. I'm not ashamed to say I love that movie. ha! And I can't wait for The Bourne Collection. I love those movies!
