DirecTV provides best HD view of Grand Slam tennis tournaments
We tell ya, DirecTV has the cable carriers at their mercy when it comes to these Mix Channels. For tennis enthusiasts in particular, you'll be hard pressed to find a viewing setup superior to this. Starting on January 18th with the Australian Open, the company will be integrating ESPN2 and Tennis Channel feeds into its six-screens-in-one Mix Channel, and for the first time ever, it will all be in high-definition. Viewers will be able to see the network channel and five court channels on a single screen, with each screen providing its own audio stream. Better still, DirecTV subscribers can expect the same kind of coverage for the French Open, Wimbledon and US Open tournaments later this year. And don't be shocked to hear of something similar for the upcoming golf season -- we get the feeling DirecTV is really going for the jugular here.

Good for them. I checked this setup out on one of the golf tournaments. It was almost enough to get me to watch golf...almost.

ha - daaper.
This wouldn't work for me with golf at all but Tennis oh yeah. How about Tour de France! Follow six riders...nice. But since I'm a FiOS TV subscriber I can only dream that Verizon would do something like this.
Verizon - please please please!!!

The Mix channels are great, but what I'm looking for is the complete package that they have on Sky in the UK for major sporting events, which include a Mix channel and a whole bunch of other stuff.

This is awesome. I agree with Jonny on the TDF. I love watching the tour, but to have the opportunity to watch it from a a group of perspectives would be nice.
And to expand on the point UnnDunn is making, a good example is the Formula 1 race coverage in places like Germany (I LOVE F1).They have channels with no commentators, just car audio. A channel that only shows the current standings/lap and sector times/etc. In total I believe they have 6 channels, each with unique (not just angles) coverage.

Sunday Ticket's Gamemix and Redzone HD are amazing on DTV. There's nothing else like it on cable. We can't wait for next football season as it's easy for us to justify the DTV bill.
Oh, and we also love that we program DTV to only show channels we like and only show those channels in the menu guide. Cox Cable sucks so hard you have to see all channels in your guide and you can't skip crap channels or PPV channels.
