Regarding the touch interface for media center, there is a very good use for it, if you can afford a setup that can take advantage of it. Some high end HTPC cases include an LCD display on them (some of which are touch capable). These are useful if you are trying to interact with your media center without the TV on (play music, check weather etc). Full control over the media center UI via touch would be a great addition. Otherwise you are standing in form of the screen (so that you are close enough to see it) with the remote, which is just silly.
