It's 1.1 out of the box, but firmware-upgradeable to 2.0. Load time is decent...I'm watching the movie in less than 20 seconds after putting in the disc. That's an estimate...I'll try timing later.

I think a better poll to take is "who cares about load time on their Blu-Ray player". Suppose your player loads a disc in 4 seconds compared to my 20. Who cares?? Is that really what bragging rights have come down to? Unless I'm relying on an instructional Blu-Ray disc to show me how to perform the Heimlich on my wife who is choking on her popcorn, I really don't see the need for "fastest loading Blu-Ray player".

mjpd1

Comments on Ask Engadget HD: Which Profile 2.0 Blu-ray player loads discs the quickest?

Good answer!

Michael

Comments on Ask Engadget HD: Which Profile 2.0 Blu-ray player loads discs the quickest?

Load times dont bother me as I usually power up the player and walk away for a couple min to get stuff setup while the disc loads. I wish the question of the poll was which stand-alone player is quickist, that would be much better information to know for those of us with PS3's who also want to add a stand-alone, possibly for another room. The rest of us have reasons not to, such as not wanting to put a child-magnet on the adult's TV. Besides, the PS3 has resources that no stand-alone will ever have, so comparing it to stand-alones is a cheat.

It would be helpful to state the actual power-on-to-tray-out time, and the disk-in-to-image-out time for each "best" machine.
