Merely weeks after Samsung rolled out its
v2.1 firmware update to enable HD Netflix streaming on the BD-P2500 / BD-P2550 Blu-ray players, in flies an update just before the dawn of 2009. As of right now, users can surf on over (courtesy of the read links provided below) in order to download version 2.3, which officially acts to "improve playback compatibility of some movie titles." Fire up the download and give it a go, and feel free to report back with any other, unnamed changes that you discover.
[Thanks, Vivek]

After watching a movie on my BD-P2500 tonight, a pop-up letting me know that new firmware was available. The new V2.3 firmware downloaded and was installed in about 15 minutes.
As with any new firmware upgrade, Setup needs to be run again, including setting up your video, sound and network connection. Because the BD-P2500 requires a manual setup of the network connection, you need to know what to enter so you can get connected again.
A few weeks ago, I downloaded V2.1 and have had no problems. Can view HD content and it looks great. V2.3, its another story. I connected to Netflix, selected a movie in my queue and the sound was ok, but the video was out of sync. Rechecked setup and tried it again, same problem. Went back to setup, viewing 1080p normal, but changed 24 frame to OFF. I do not know if this is a bug in the software, but it is now working. Also in setting the time, it is not saving what you enter.
I do not know what additional features this update offered, and would not recommend doing it and having to deal with setting everything up again.

I'm guessing the update contains the full DTS-HD Master Audio decoding that Samsung promised to have out by the end of 2008, but I haven't updated yet.
Per your input, I think I'll wait a bit to get more feedback before I update my 2550.

I too am having problems since updating to the 2.3 firmware. Using the 2.1 firmware I didn't seem to have any issues with the blu-ray movies or netflix streaming service. After upgrading however my box was starting to lock up, in the 5 days since upgrading to the new firmware I have experienced at least 15 or so lock ups while watching either a blu-ray movie or a netflix streaming movie. In both cases I would have to turn off the box with the power button on the front panel as it becomes unresponsive to the remote control. I have just returned to the 2.1 firmware which I luckily still had on my hard disk drive.

It has only been a few days since Samsung made available firmware V2.3, and for anyone who downloaded it and found problems with it. The good news is today V2.4 is already available. I turned on my BD-P2500 this afternoon and was given notice that new firmware was availbale. The really good news is that this upgrade adds the DTS-HD HRA/MA feature we have been waiting for.
Other then having to do a complete Setup after upgrading the firmware, all the problems one may have had with V2.3, everything is working fine. I turned On film mode 24fps and it is working, where as in V2.3, I had a sync problem with the video.
All I can say is the combination of Samsung's new Touch of Color TV's (I have a 40inch 630) and the 2500 series Blu-ray player, everything you watch is great. When I checked out Netflix and started a movie in HD, the picture was as good as a Blue-ray dice.

Yup. 2.4 does seem to be stable already. No lockups yet, but I also didn't see the DTS-HD stuff either.

Maybe someone can explain this to me.
Can the 2500 be firmware upgraded to support DIVX and other video formats or is that something that has to be hardcoded into the player.
It was either buy this unit or buy the Panasonic with divx and the guy said better audio but no netflix.
If possible direct me to a site that could answer this question.. If no one reading this can.
Thank you
