Blue Echo's hd EZ lock turns any HDMI cable into a locking one

At current time, there are only a couple of locking HDMI cable options out there for those who fear that their components could let loose of the signal line at any moment. In just a fortnight, however, all that will change. The little known Blue Echo Solutions has announced that its hd EZ lock -- which coins itself as a universal adapter that converts any vanilla HDMI cable into a locking one -- will be available in early January. The device has snagged a coveted CES 2009 Innovations Honoree Award, and it holds things in place by attaching to your component's chassis using either the existing fixing screw on the device itself or via the supplied VHB adhesive. They'll be a bit expensive at $19.98 per pair, but can you really put a price on peace of mind?

I'm probably missing the point, but wouldn't it be better just to by the correct length of cable to begin with?

Without lock + person tripping over the cable = unplugged cable.

With "CES 2009 Innovations Honoree Award" lock + person tripping over the cable = few scenarios:

1. If it's a notebook, it goes flying off the table, crashes and burns.
2. Desktop? Then the entire video connector or the cable gets ripped.

Didn't we have this type of "innovation" back in the days of 9/15 pin video cables? I remember they were called ... that's rigth, screws.

This is by far the stupidest thing I've seen this week, but it's only Monday, I have high hopes.

I do not need this device since my HDMI cables are stowed away within my entertainment center.

No way to trip over it or yank them :)

LOL what a useless idea, wouldn't you be better off with break points like video game controllers. I don't know who walks behind peoples setups but if someone did I'd rather the cable come out then pull my HDTV down and smash it on the floor

Periodically I need to move my TV to connect seldom used things like a PC or get to something stored behind it.
One of my HDMI ports is loose and just rotating the TV a bit would cause the picture to go out - very frustrating when it works just before you start to pack everything away.

So now I just use other HDMI.
For $20, I could once again use that HDMI port.
