HD quality comparison of online video sharing sites
Sure, you could just surf around the intarwebz and utilize the tried-and-true "eye test" to see which online video sharing site boasts the best HD quality, but there's always a good feeling associated with having some cold, hard facts to back things up. TechVideoBlog has done the hard work for you, spelling out the resolution, codec, audio quality, etc. associated with each. The assembler of the data personally prefers Facebook and YouTube, but we'll let you digest the data in the read link before asking you to share your own choice in comments below.

I completely disagree. The YouTube HD (not to be mistaken for high quality mode) IMO easily trumps the quality of Vimeo's HD vids. Go watch "Where the Hell is Matt 2008" at both sites in HD, the YouTube version is clearer.

Just as an FYI, the article quotes Dark Shikari from the Doom9 forum. He is THE man when it comes to x264 (the high-quality, open-source codec used on Youtube and elsewhere). On another note, 256 kbit for AAC audio? Talk about overkill.

Vimeo is superior in every way.
YouTube is for people post slideshows of their favorite actors set to their favorite love song.

You have no clue what you are talking about, you obviously haven't compared the YouTubeHD to Vimeo HD like myself and Johhny did.

I just did a side by side comparison with both Matt videos..I used Youtube HD verison via the qt link.. The youtubes version CLEARLY is better....They are both identicle resoultions but the main difference I saw was that the youtubes picture was brighter and I could see more details in dark scenes. I froze the scene at around second 6 roughly and it took me about 5 minutes to get them perfect. You can clearly see that the youtubes video is brighter and clearer! His right eye is completely blacked out in the vimeo pic whereas in the youtube vid, you can make out at least his eye socket. Also the overall pic quality is just better!
