This is finally the week that we've all be waiting for. It is the week that the biggest release in the history of Blu-ray hits the shelves. Now if you think this is just yet another PS3 demographic comic book movie, think again.
The Dark Knight has an IMDB score of 9.1 with over 300,000 votes. This puts it at number four all time which means it has a much wider appeal than most other movies out there. But even in the off chance that you have no interest in the latest Batman flick, there are still a few others worth a look. Fox has a few catalog comedies including the hilarious
Super Troopers and
Dodgeball. Disney has the latest complete season of the hottest show on TV, Lost -- although we're still waiting for the first two seasons on Blu-ray. And finally, Universal has a action packed Je Li movie,
Fearless.

I'm excited to see today's TDK sales.
Maybe I'm reading it wrong but the IMDB score for TDK is at 8.9...
#1 The Shawshank Redemption is 9.1.
Ben @ Dec 9th 2008 7:52AM
That's weird, if you go to the movie's page it says 9.1, but on the top 250 list page it says 8.9.
Spiza @ Dec 9th 2008 7:58AM
For the top 250 list, they average in other factors to weight the movies so that a new movie can't get 1 vote of 10 and be at the top, or you can't get a group together to vote one movie high and try to get it up the list. Shawshank is actually 9.2 and DK is 9.1. It allows for a movie like DK to be higher than a movie like the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly to be lower on the 250 list even though it has a higher rating. DK has about 3x as many votes though.
Here's their scaling:
weighted rating (WR) = (v ÷ (v+m)) × R + (m ÷ (v+m)) × C
where:
R = average for the movie (mean) = (Rating)
v = number of votes for the movie = (votes)
m = minimum votes required to be listed in the Top 250 (currently 1300)
C = the mean vote across the whole report (currently 6.7)

Wasn't Dodgeball already out on Blu-Ray?
