Bottom line -- good only if you want to buy from a local big box store. Otherwise, go with the Panasonic AE3000 or (most likely) the Epson 6500/7500UB.
Epson 6500/7500 will undoubtedly build on 1080UB and Panasonic is packed with features but I've been extremely happy with Sony HW-10 projector and I'm really NOT a Sony person. I don't like their business practices overall but with that being said, if they made a good product I'll give them the benefit. This HW-10 projector turned better color and black reproduction along with sharpness over Panasonic AE3000. Since 6500/7500 wasn't available I checked it out. It's really a great projector with stunning picture quality.
I wasn't impressed with Mitsubishi HC6500 at all. I had a chance to view them at my Magnolia and it fell short on quite a few things. For $2500 I'd rather recommend someone if they can find an Epson 1080ub or even you are lucky get Panny AE3000 (I saw some deals that had them for $2500 even though they are $3500 msrp) but definitely not this Mitsubishi.

The HC6500 was on sale for $1,999 Fri/Sat at Best Buy, and it is $2,299 this week.

@KEN
Assume your thinking of the HC5500? They wouldn't discount the HC6500 by $1000.
