Netgear Digital Entertainer Elite media streamer says hello to the FCC
Netgear returns with the Digital Entertainer Elite network media streamer taking an early peek from cover to go through its paces at the FCC test center. Two years after the EVA8000 Digital Entertainer HD, the EVA9000 model adds support for a 3.5-inch SATA internal HDD, 802.11n and more to its predecessor's lengthy list of features. The leaked spec comparison after the break reveals AVI, XviD, DivX and h.264 decoding returning plus Dolby True HD, DTS-HD Master Audio, MKV, TS, M2TS file support that should chew through any HD files you've got and then some. Why wait for an official announcement, shipping date or price? The FCC already had its fun, so check out the PDFs for a full manual plus pictures inside & out, then once this box hits the stage at CES just pretend like you never saw it with the cover off.

Looks rockin'. This device covers 90% of the reasons I built my HTPC. If it had media center extender capabilities then it would truly be a media wizard box.

Wow... how much?
They should have included some kind of DVD drive (perhaps upgradeable to BD someday).

I'm wondering if you can hook up to the USB ports :
an external PC dvd player.
an external hard drive (contains your media library) , yes, I know it can take internal drive with its drive bay, but can it support additional drives.
can it take a 4 port USB hub, so can have multiple external dvd players, external harddrives?
If so, this is definitely a potentially great product.

Would need to see some on-screen shots and a remote control.
I've yet to see anything that doesn't look like a toy, except for the AppleTV, but it lacks a bit of 'openness' without some hacking.

It seems pretty silly to certify it with the SCART connector, I don't remember anything else sold in the US with it. Maybe it's cheaper to just leave it there than not put it in and put in a blank plate there.
