You may be correct but if you buy from Costco they double the factory warranty. I have recommended many and had no complaints in three years. This newest offering looks like a real winner to me.
How could you see a ton of "these" fail? They were just released. Maybe you saw a ton of low-end Vizio's, but this seems to be their high-end line, so I would think (hope) the QA would be high-end as well. This just might be my future entertainment centerpiece, so I have high hopes for it.

As a TV technician, I see a ton of these fail. Vizio should improve their support and reliability before they try to mingle with the "upper class".
