Vizio promised that
this beast would be on store shelves in July, yet we've been forced to wait (and wait... and wait) until mid-November to finally see it ship. As disgruntled as we are by the delays, we can't help but think that
Vizio has a winner on its hands with this 50-incher. The secret weapon here is the Silicon Optix REON HQV processing engine, not to mention the absurdly low $1,499.99 MSRP. For those keeping score, that's a full $200 less that what we were expecting, though shipping rates do range from patently rediculous to clinically insane when ordering direct from Vizio. Our suggestion? Phone up every Costco in your area 'til you land one.
[Thanks, Michael]

Cool! My first "tip" has been published! I feel so "insidery."

Seriously! I was feeling all good and fine about my 32" set until I saw this and immediately thought, "I could upgrade to greener grass... Why not?"

As a TV technician, I see a ton of these fail. Vizio should improve their support and reliability before they try to mingle with the "upper class".

You may be correct but if you buy from Costco they double the factory warranty. I have recommended many and had no complaints in three years. This newest offering looks like a real winner to me.

How could you see a ton of "these" fail? They were just released.
Maybe you saw a ton of low-end Vizio's, but this seems to be their high-end line, so I would think (hope) the QA would be high-end as well.
This just might be my future entertainment centerpiece, so I have high hopes for it.

I have the Vizio SV420XVT, but thinking I might just need to upgrade too. I called Vizio to ask about a couple of shipping options and the guy told me that it also has TruSurround HD which is pretty cool and makes me want it more...maybe Christmas?

Vizio told me they were coming out at sears.com too because that means there might be a possibility of shipping specials or maybe in-store pick up too! Can't wait to hear the TruSurround HD.

For one of my student lounges, I have a low-end Vizo 42" LCD that I bought at Sam's club 1.5 years ago at $900. It's on about 12 hours per day, every day, and I haven't had a problem with it yet. I wouldn't hesitate to pick this up.

The VP505 has been available for a couple of weeks.

This tv uses a Panasonic panel so it might be good if you pair it with the HQV processor.

I have been waiting for this for what seems like ever, but finally got confirmation from my Costco that they will be carrying the VP505XVT as of the second week in January in stores. Now the shipping issue isn't a problem.
