also, the new apple monitors will play it fine, as will virtually any HDCP compliant monitor.

My bet is the new macworld convention in January will have a bunch of new monitors and hopefully tv capable ones. the reason why they are doing it is to have DRM on hollywood content, it is hollywood requiring it.

1. Buy Digital Media - have severe restrictions on how and where you can use it. Pay too much.

2. Pirate Digital Media - No restrictions, works with nearly everything. Studios don't get paid.

3. Do not use digital media.

Hollywood - We need a 4th option!

In the past, you couldn't even get HD movies from iTunes without a AppleTV. Seriously though, you pay arms and legs for a MacBook, you have been a good boy or girl and paid for your movies, and then Apple takes all the movies you bought as hostage and renders them almost useless, unless you buy some specific (TV-)product. On Windows, there are viruses which does this kind of hostage-taking a lot cheaper.
