Denon ships DVD-1800BD Blu-ray player to the UK
It obviously proved impossible for a brand like Sherwood to pull off a $299 Profile 1.1 player in today's competitive market place, but for someone like Denon, high prices are simply expected. The "budget" DVD-1800BD BonusView Blu-ray deck has finally shipped to the United Kingdom, complete with a bloated £600 price tag. Call us crazy, but we still expect the firm to move quite a few of these, worldwide recession be darned.

Hmm, that player looks SUSPICIOUSLY like the Onkyo DV-BD606P. Same button layout, slot for SD etc. It means it is probably yet another Funai player.

That makes;
Insignia
Magnavox
Sylvania
Philips
Onkyo
Denon
All basically selling the same player, with slight cosmetic differences. And yet they're being sold across a huge price range.
At least Denon and Philips are offering their own remote controls...

Yup, I think Denon & Onkyo are relying on people trusting their logo to jack up prices. I think a good brand justifies some premium if its backed up by good support but not a 3x markup. You can buy the Sony S350 for £169 in the UK and a Panasonic DMPBD35 from £250 so charging £600 for an arguably lesser player is daylight robbery.
