"horrible" is such a relative term. What makes it so bad? I got one over six months ago refurbished for $220 at a Sony store, and have been updating with the releases of each firmware along the way, and so far so good. What's the matter, can't use BD live and annoy your fellow fanboys? I do not know why all love to disparage a unit that so far has not had the problems that other 2nd genration players have demonstrated. I will admit that Baraka did not play until the most recent firmare released onm 10/31/08 (version 4.30) but works like a charm now, including the 007 flick For Your Eyes Only (which was also alittle buggy). For the money, it's an "ok" if not "good" player, certainly not horrible. Maybe you expect the best, but do you give your best? Just trying to be objective. No worries.
I had one, brand new. It was slow, Fox blu-rays took so damn long to load. The controls got laggy at times. I sold it for $200 and bought a PS3. The PS3 is so much better, especially when you consider what you get for $399 compared to $200.
How's your power bill, LiqwidZero? I'm not a gamer any longer, at least not console. Considering how much power a PS3 sucks down, I would hate to hear so many consumers hawk for a PS3 unless they are a gamer. On the other hand, I do agree this S300 is a POS, but its got to be at least as good as an Insignia.

I only pay $65 a month for electricity. I have a 360, PS3, Wii, LCD TV, iMac, SNES, N64, etc. So it's not an issue for me.
