"ugly" how & compared to what?!

It's a black rectangle with the long sides on the horizontal
(and unlike some the bezel is pretty narrow).

The splash of red edging at least differentiates it a little from all the rest which look the same.

It's almost exactly like every other HD TV excepting that minor touch of red
(or, on the other similar Samsung models, a touch of blue or silver).

How the hell does that make it any more or less "ugly" than the rest?

The colouring might not be to your taste maybe but it makes it "ugly"!?

Each to their own but it seems to me that that's a little like writing off Scarlett Johansson as an ugly woman cos one of her ears is 0.00005mm lower than the other.
