Since it appears the rumored
DirecTV/DISH partnership won't come to fruition, the recent idea is that AT&T might be sliding into position to acquire
DirecTV and all those HD channels.
Multichannel News cited an analyst report issuing a buy rating on Liberty Entertainment shares, based on an increased probability of AT&T snapping up a piece of the satcaster, if DirecTV doesn't buy Liberty first. Enough maybes, coulds and probablys for you? Still, there's no need to wait if you want some DirecTV in your triple play
right now.

Please, NO! First they ruined the original AT&T Wireless, took over much of the country again, and now this? I hope this never happens!

Seriously though, NO.

I can tell you this ain't going to happen. AT&T is in no financial position to do this. Heck, anyone look at AT&T's 3rd quarter financials?

Jesus, God, NO!!!! I will seriously do without TV over staying with AT&T. Fuckin' corporate monsters are destroying EVERYTHING. I STILL don't have DSL at work and live rock throwing distance to a building that does!
DirecTV is one of the few companies I can honestly say has been extraordinarily good to me and if they were under AT&T management, you all know it'd go to shit...
"But Dead_Rebel, why not go to DISH?"
'Cause I'm not that desperate. ;)

OH SNAP! up.....

I still wish I had PacBell. I've been waiting for a DSL speed upgrade for 7 years and still don't have the woefully outdated U-verse available here in the pricey part of Los Angeles.
But I've had DirecTV continuously sine October 1994. Murdoch was bad enough, but he's gone. I'd hate to trade down to AT&T.

"Please, NO! First they ruined the original AT&T Wireless..."
This is not true. The current at&t (formerly SBC Communications) was not the same "AT&T" of AT&T Wireless - that was the old company (& old management).
When AT&T Wireless was going south, at that time SBC was the principal owner of Cingular Wireless (a competitor), and only later acquired assets of the old AT&T when it went under -- including the name, which they kept (it's over 100 years old you know), but changed the logo from all caps to lower caps: at&t
Again, the new (& current) at&t didn't have anything to do with the management and business practices of the older "AT&T Wireless", an asset that was originally McCaw Cellular, started by Craig McCaw (the "father" of the modern cell phone business, and very wealthy). Here's his Wikipedia page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Craig_McCaw

No, no, no!!! Ever since Southwestern Bell took over AT&T, they stink! I gave up my phone service with them and will switch to another carrier if this happens. I love Directv and they will definitely ruin it. Just say no to AT&T!
MidnightDT @ Nov 2nd 2008 11:28AM
This would be horrible!!!
bubblerfootball5052 @ Nov 11th 2008 3:04PM
This is probably not gonna happen. Directv is available through Verizon.

Well if you are not yet aware, they stink anyways so may be after the take over their shady practices will be fixed. Please read this before signing up with them:

I'm in a mission to inform all people who is thinking of signing up with them, get other service and a peace of mind instead! I'm not calling them name but please do your research!
