FOX News turns HD on DirecTV
Without any official word from DirecTV, users across the nation are now reporting that after six months of waiting the HD version of FOX News has finally been added to the satcaster's lineup. Yeah, we wish there were a few others being introduced right alongside of it, but we suppose we're okay with baby steps. Enjoy!

Achilles @ Oct 17th 2008 11:27AM
Exactly what I was thinking. You beat me to it!
JimC @ Oct 17th 2008 11:32AM
Jon since you think Fox News is BS, I would dearly love to know what news channel isn't BS. Please enlighten us...
TrentD @ Oct 17th 2008 3:13PM
No, CNN HD has been on DirecTV for a long time!
/all broacast news is crap.
Frank @ Oct 17th 2008 11:26AM
Fair and Balanced and High Def. I just wish that Comcast would follow suit. Well, I guess I can always switch back.
Tony @ Oct 17th 2008 12:03PM
Fair and balanced ??
More like tilted , wayyyyyyyyyy tilted to the far right. Nothing wrong with being biased towards your Republican viewers, but they are not fair and balanced.
When will AMC get the HD treatment on DirecTV?
Frank @ Oct 17th 2008 2:29PM
When you're used to watching news that is skewed far left I can see how fair and balanced would seem right to you. Fox News is without a doubt the best source for news on cable. And their ratings proove it.
Also, Fox News babes in HD, what's not to like?
Pete @ Oct 17th 2008 2:33PM
Sure Tony, cause NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN, and MSNBC are so balanced. Its unbelievable how many people talk shit about Fox News but have never even watched it. Its also unbelievable how the other networks continue to spew far left bs when Fox News is killing them in the ratings ... http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/ratings/cable_ranker_week_of_sept_29_96834.asp
THizzle7XU @ Oct 17th 2008 10:26PM
For being so right-wing, you do know they were the first ones to bring up GW Bush doing coke in college when he was first running for president. True or not, that doesn't seem too right-wing to me.
acidrock @ Oct 21st 2008 10:09PM
FOX News is the most biased untrustworthy crap to call itself a 'news' channel. I watched it from 2000 to 2005 or so and I'm ashamed to admit it. How ANYONE can claim its 'fair and balanced' is beyond me, believing so illustrates the person's ignorance or the fact they're brainwashed. Browse youtube or google for countless examples of FOX's idiocy. 'Liberal media' and 'mainstream media' means 'anything that isn't BS right-wing and calls us neocons out for our lies' in case you're too wrapped up in talking points. Don't like CNN or other networks? Fine, commit to Reuters or AP, or use your brain and fact check.
Seriously people, I don't care if you're conservatives but don't be so stupid to believe FOX is 'fair and balanced'. They've been proven to report lies and tabloid commentary countless times. High ratings mean NOTHING, look at all the garbage that stays on TV and tell me it must be good news since more people watch it lol.
scjessey @ Oct 17th 2008 11:40AM
As a Comcast customer, I'd rather hope they don't waste the bandwidth with this. I'm still waiting for SPEED HD and Sci Fi HD in the Philly region.
extinctdoughnut @ Oct 17th 2008 12:35PM
Speed HD is AWESOME!!!!!!!!
Justin @ Oct 17th 2008 12:05PM
Faux News HD isn't a real HD channel. All it is is the SD feed with a ticker of BS news on the right.
Either be REAL HD or GTFO my cable system.
Prey521 @ Oct 17th 2008 2:15PM
Some of their programming is in HD. You can hate FoxNews all you want, but they have, without a doubt, the hottest female anchors of any other network.
Jeff N. @ Oct 17th 2008 12:12PM
We want AMC on HD.
eric53110 @ Oct 17th 2008 12:12PM
I like that DirecTV is giving it's customers the option of having another news channel in HD, whether you agree with their programming or not.
1. I wonder what took them so long?
2. I wonder when DISH NETWORK IS GETTING IT!!!!
GRRRR
It upsets me to no end that the crappy Time Warner in Milwaukee is getting this channel in HD, but not Dish. And the HD on TWC is pathetic!
That's wrong on SO many levels.
Vince @ Oct 17th 2008 12:30PM
Long Live MSNBC in HD! Just more proof the Dems are way ahead of those cranky old white guys.
Philip @ Oct 17th 2008 1:46PM
Since when is MSNBC in HD?
Prey521 @ Oct 17th 2008 2:16PM
HAHAHAHA! MSNBC's rating are a joke! You do realize that they're on the verge of tanking right? FoxNews is the King of cable news. MSNBC doesn't even come close, especially with clowns like Keith Slobberman.
chris2 @ Oct 17th 2008 2:51PM
cranky old white guys....like Matthews and Olberdouche?
lakersin2025 @ Oct 17th 2008 12:49PM
FOX News is all bullshit anyway. Does anyone even have the time or patience to watch the news anyway? I prefer to click for my news.
Dayton Guy @ Oct 17th 2008 12:57PM
Time Warner Cable in Dayton and Cincinnati, Ohio will receive FOX News HD sometime in November 2008.
Steve @ Oct 17th 2008 12:55PM
I watch FNC constantly, so this is definitely a welcome addition. About damn time DTV!
Philip @ Oct 17th 2008 1:46PM
I wish Cox would hurry up and add Fox HD as well.
UnnDunn @ Oct 17th 2008 3:26PM
Cablevision has had Fox News HD for a while now. Doesn't matter how sharp the picture is, the BS they spew stinks just as much. Especially Hannity and O'Reilly.
Mike @ Oct 17th 2008 3:46PM
Red Eye in HD....wooo hooo
You haters can go away.
sharksfansd @ Oct 17th 2008 4:00PM
I have my thoughts on why FOX ratings due well on certain shows, but that is for another website/forum. However, as far as the HD channel. It will now be much clearer to see how ridiculous their reporting is on stories such as this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KTkqosRiyYo
John @ Oct 17th 2008 5:11PM
OMG, that is the funniest thing I've seen about this election. SNL should bring that back in a skit.
How many of you Fox News fans think that was at all credible reporting?
LJ @ Oct 17th 2008 8:39PM
Yay the obama haters are now in HD. lol
Bhong @ Oct 18th 2008 8:40AM
Hannity on HD... I think I'm going to VOMIT!!!
DallasJayhawk @ Oct 19th 2008 9:41AM
Fox isn't fair and balanced but Fox IS the balanced opposite of the rest of the main stream media compared to CNN, NBC, MSNBC, etc... who are all so pro-Obama/liberal/democrat that they won't even follow up on a story to confirm that Obama launched his political career in the living room of domestic terrorist Bill Ayres.
I agree that Republican attack dogs like Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh are not fair and balanced but I have seen fair and balanced from Bill O'Reilly who has blasted both candidates and parties.
I think Fox News needs to be in HD simply out of fairness since all the other liberal news media channels ARE in HD.
I also wish that AMC were in HD as they have the finest lineup of movies and Mad Men on the SD side. I have also really enjoyed HDNet's movies and other shows as they have some great HD content and Magnolia Studio's content that hasn't yet been released to theaters, DVD or VOD/PPV.
Smorgie84 @ Nov 6th 2008 4:14PM
Another thing to point out is that there is a big difference between fair and balanced news versus fair and balanced commentators. Limbaugh and Hannity are commentators - they are not expected to be fair and balanced. They do not claim to be fair and balanced either. The news, however, is expected to be non-biased and a majority of the networks are failing miserably in this department. Election 2008 will go down as the year where journalism failed the public. Admittedly, Fox News Channel is more conservative leaning - but only because they actually have conservative viewpoints expressed. Compare that to MSNBC and the others who have little to no conservative representation. News is expected to be fair and balanced and Fox lives up to that most of the time. They typically pair up both a conservative and liberal spokesperson when debating issues so people can hear both sides of the argument

FNC HD will never be offered on dish. just look at Fox Business HD. its been on directv for 2 years now, and no mention of it from dish. i know 2 people already that are switching from dish to directv just because of FNC HD. once the news gets out, i bet thousands of FNC watchers that have been watching CNN HD for now, will leave dish. i can imagine there being 2 satellite companies in the future, 1 conservative and 1 liberal. right now directv wins because it also carries CNN HD while dish will never carry FNC HD or Fox Business HD. as soon as directv offers a stand alone HD package, i intend to be one of those thousand others. i am spreading the word of the new FNC HD, not because i am a big fan, but more because i want to see the dish business model fail. they would rather spend millions on lawyers then just give the customers what they want/deserve. and when i do leave dish, i refuse to pay any ETF (early termination fee) and i encourage every body out there that wants to switch to just do it. if dish network is not willing to keep pace with directv's HD expansion, then dish network is in breach of OUR contract. off subject but since dish took the Voom channels, does it not seem fair to give us the HD platnum channels in return. the hd turbo bronze silver gold and platnum is an insult to any HD customer. people only take advantage of you if you let them. i am actually happy about the economic down turn, maybe people will start to express thier disapproval with thier wallets instead of hoping for change that is never going to come if people continue to spend money.
