Bright House bigwig acknowledges complaints about Mystro Digital Navigator
Finally, someone inside sees the light. According to quotes from a recent interview with Craig Saari, Bright House's senior director of engineering, he realizes that the Mystro Digital Navigator is patently awful, though he doesn't really have a good reason why Passport was ditched in favor of something that is almost universally despised. After the aforesaid software was rolled out en masse last week in Central Florida, hordes of customers are yelping that more functionality has been lost than gained, and even Saari confessed that the Mystro is much slower to respond to remote inputs. All that being true, the question beckons: "Why?" Why on Earth are providers like BHN and Time Warner Cable switching out the antiquated (but perfectly usable) Passport application for something that's entirely worse? We suppose we'll never know the truth, but at least BHN customers have someone, somewhere working to make things better. Or so they say.Update: So it's possible the new software was implemented for tru2way support. Makes sense, but it doesn't ease the pain of suckage.

Having tons of issues with a new box on the Mystro software in NYC. The HDMI handshake fails with a brand new 42 inch westinghouse TV which causes a few issues:
1) The clock on the display stops working when I turn the TV off.
2) The display sometimes forces a 16 x 9 picture (720p, 1081i) into a 4 x 3 format.
3) There is no sleep functionality in the settings like passport had (weird)
4) TWC New York techs do not have a scripted answer for any of the issues... Had to scour the message boards to figure this one out.
Hopefully they will come up with some fix for this as I'd rather have everything running through HDMI.

I've had no issues with mine. In fact I like it MUCH better. The guide on the old software was terrible and slow. This one responds so much better. Plus the guide doesn't look like it was made by 5 year olds with crayons.

BTW, I'm using it in 1080i over component on a 4:3 CRT so I have a strange setup aspect setup (16:9 stretch mode gives me proper full screen 4:3 and letterboxed 16:9) and have no issues out of formatting.

That's swell Henry. When you see your bosses on Monday tell them how good a soldier you were with posting on sites to make sure everyone things the software works well
This software looks like it was written by people riding a short bus. The only people worse than that were the ones who picked this software to roll out.

TWC & BHN are cousins. and The big Cousin TWC has decided to create software of their own so that they wont have to pay passport or sara fees.
It's all about profit, now matter hoe bad navigator is.

The Mystro Digital Navigator is their choice for tru2way software, the old stuff doesn't support the new standard.

The new navagator sucks. Screw the tru 2 way crap. It being said that it's universally hated yet because of profits; it won't be fixed. You can't even get info anymore on the movies-
( who directed- who lead and support and which country made. Not putting these in is just lazy and those in charge of this rollout should be fired and those responcible for its' conception should get into another line of work for the mentally challenged. No one would have rolled out this crap unless it was for profits alone. Atta boy- Bright House! You now suck!

This software is horrible. If you think so as well contact Brenda Pennington at Bright House in Maitland. She is the one who responded to me.
The only way to influence these guys is to basically file a complaint against their franchise here in Central Florida. If we get enough complaints with the state and our city state representatives we can have Bright House tossed out of Florida for something better.
What does everyone think of that idea?

Mystro? AWFUL. Passport was so much better. Whose bright idea was it to change? They should be exploring other career options.
