Verizon's FiOS TV coming to Yonkers apartment buildings
Around this time last year, we heard that the FCC was looking to facilitate programming competition for apartments, and apparently, it has succeeded. Just this week, Verizon proudly announced that its FiOS TV programming service was on the way to residents in 2,029 Yonkers public housing apartments. In total, 18 buildings will get gifted with the fiber-based services (TV and high-speed internet), and the carrier has already begun the build-out of the necessary fiber network. There's no word on when or if a similar agreement could take other apartment complexes by storm, but it appears the biggest hurdle has been lifted.

Ooo look, my apartment complex in the background, and Ooo look, I am on FIOS now! Only had to relocate from another state to get it!

Don't get me started on them too, well... All and all Comcast isn't that bad, however their services are way overpriced and the lack of HD networks is horrible. DIsh Network can put them to shame with the amount of HD cable networks they offer and the extremely nice interface of their DVRs. If only I didn't live in an apartment that faces the east. GRRR

Who would want FIOS? Yes its fast and they have a good network, not to mention all the hype about their TV service... (Which I could not get due to my building's infrastructure.) I had FIOS at one time in a retrofitted high-rise apartment install. In short, the result, disconnects lasting days at a time and PISS POOR customer service. Lack of cabling / account documentation on their end for my type of install and the list can go on. I won't bore you with the whole story but just putting this out there as a warning to those following the FIOS hype. When it worked, it was great but god forbid something goes wrong. Good luck!

Sucks for you. I know a few people who could not be happier with their service.

I've had Dish, DirecTV, Cablevision, and now I have FIOS. The service is leaps and bounds better that the others.. Really not even close... If you had problems with FIOS, its because its new. I had Optimum when it first came out and there were more problems that I can remember, and everyone I knew had problems too. FIOS is the best - no doubt.

Cablevision must be trembling by now.....
