Yeah, I'm not understanding this one. Given the overlap with the key features of HD DVD and Blu-ray, I'm surprised they're not taking their old HD DVD design, swapping over the drive, and changing the firmware. The audio and video decoding hardware should be identical.
Is it possible that both their HD DVD players and Blu-ray players are just rebadged models made by someone else, eg their HD DVD was a rebadged Toshiba, and this is a rebadged Panasonic or Sony?
