Blu-ray releases on October 7th 2008
There are a few day and date releases this week, but we don't think any of them are the biggest title of the week. Sure Sleeping Beauty doesn't fit in the Blu-ray demographic, it does mark a significant milestone in Blu-ray's path to replacing DVD. In fact it marks the very first Disney Classic to be released on Blu-ray, which we're sure will help more than one father convince his wife they need to go Blu. Next up is You Don't Mess with the Zohan, which although it looks down right silly, it is sure to be good for a few laughs. The rest of the lineup this week is all Halloween, all the time, as just about every studio goes into its catalog to release every horror classic we can think of. But if you think this is a big week, just wait until next week. For starters The Matrix Trilogy finally drops on Blu, but there are also plenty of other catch up titles from Universal and one or two more from Warner. Those alone would make some week for Blu, but we haven't even mentioned the latest Indiana Jones movie which is sure to be a hot seller. While no one truly knows the future of Blu-ray, there's little doubt that we will have a much better look into the future after this holiday season thanks to every studio throwing everything they have to make Blu-ray successful.Blu-ray

My wife reminded me yesterday about Sleeping Beauty. Thanks for that Disney. It's cool though because we have our first little Laker fan due in January and he will be watching nothing but Blu-ray movies. I can just see it now, "Dad, why is South Park so grainy looking?" Anyone know when Nemo is going Blu? Seems like that dates keep changing.

Hey, at least Sleeping Beauty comes with a DVD version of the movie.

why are you even on an HD site? Sorry you can't tell the difference between HD and SD.

Good thing the Sleeping Beauty Blu-Ray comes with the entire first disc of the DVD set as a bonus for the kids to play in the DVD player. In other words Everyone should get the Blu-Ray as the DVD is also included with it.

Man that is sad!!! If I want to buy electronics/movies, I go buy it. Why do you guys have to ask permission? Don't you guys earn money!
Glad my life is not like that. Also, my kid does not have her own TV.

Umm, why wouldn't the kids room already have a 42" plasma. Nothing puts a toddler to sleep like Baby Einsteins on a 72" DLP.

With the rate at which the studios are relieasing "A" catalog titles (especially in Q4), they are doing a good job of killing confidence in Blu-Ray.

Ben, can you seriously drop the whole "who knows how long Blu-ray has left".
Yes the critics are spilling their crap but for neebies coming onto to this site it could be perceived that you guys actually want them to not buy into Blu-ray because "who knows how long it will last"
Just let the format live it out its natural life. Its the best HD the world has right now and deserves more than this type of stereotype.

Oops.. I tried to look for sarcasm before i posted, but I took a chance. Glad to hear it wasn't serious, but I can see that conversation happen.
