Hands-on and unboxing: Nero LiquidTV | TiVo PC
We received our Nero Liquid TV review kit today and before got knee deep in experiencing TiVo on a PC, we paused and took some pictures for your enjoyment. Although we wonder how big the market is for yet another piece of DVR, HTPC software, we do want to find out if the $200 price point, and $99 a year for service, is worth it for a remote, IR transceiver, hybrid tuner, antenna and software. We'll be trying this with our Vista Media Center hardware -- including CableCARD tuners that we don't expect to work -- as well as the included remote and tuner, so stay tuned.

This is DOA without CableCard support. Without it it can't measure up to Vista Media Center. I also think Tivo messed up by charging a service fee. Now if they come out with a Tivo media center extender that doesn't require an additional service fee then I might change my tune. I would be willing to pay $10/month to have one PC that could record all of my content and serve it up to extenders around the house. Using a TivoHD as an extender is a joke because of the additional monthly fee. Also, managing recordings on two different boxes is inefficient and annoying.

I think I know the answer to this, but just in case - would the Hauppauge HD-PVR work with LiquidTV? I'm guessing no, but it never hurts to ask.

I don't see why Cablecards wouldn't work, the HD Tivo works with them really well, so it's already in the software. If they're certified there shouldn't be any reason why not.
I really wish Tivo would allow people who are paying monthly subscriptions to buy more Tivos to place around the house and use for free. I would love to pick up two more HD Tivos and put them in our extra rooms, but even at a discounted monthly fee, it's just too much to ask. We're tight on money, and while the normal fee is fine, anything more is too much.

Is there any mention of ClearQAM support, or is it only ATSC, NTSC broadcast, and analog cable?
