Potential new TiVo user interface shown on video
We know, you're still digesting the whole Nero LiquidTV / TiVo PC introduction, but once you get through your head that said product brings TiVo functionality to your PC, we'd like you to have a look at something only mildly related. In the best form possible (that'd be video, for those curious), a walkthrough of a potential new user interface for TiVo as a whole has been hosted up. According to the lucky soul who was able to grab this information from a recent survey, there's no telling if it'll ever actually be released. 'Course, we highly doubt TiVo pays its engineers to cook up new software for nothing, but we've heard of zanier scenarios. Check out three UI vids after the break, and be sure to look carefully for the oh-so-subtle differences.

Eeee GAD! TWO Tivo posts in a single day, no less a mere hour? Well, yeeee hawwww, this is the most hell raisin' death watch I've ever laid eyes upon. And a new GUI for such a hopelessly dead product to boot. TiVo should change its name to Lazarus.
I think the next poll of the week should let the EngadgetHD readership decide if it thinks TiVo is as dead-in-the-water as the writers do. Might be time to spring it lose from the endangered gadget's list.

Wow... such Tivo hate. I guess you can't afford it.

Actually, I'm a fervent TiVo supporter, and I welcome the new GUI news with earnest. My attempt to convey sarcasm has failed, but my suggestion of removing TiVo from the Death Watch list is legit.

That's great looking. It's hard to tell how functional and cohesive it all is from the quick videos shown, but it's certainly slick-looking. I love my TiVo. I just got a TiVo HD two weeks ago and am committed to them... But their interface is aging (and their customer service SUCKS).
I'd be very excited to see something new from them. It'd be a bonus if my two existing TiVos got the update instead of them reserving it for some new box. Guess I'm dreamin' there though.
Long live TiVo. Shanan, I still love you. ;-)

What are those, banner ads on the top of the screen?
IseWise @ Sep 29th 2008 2:47PM
Its seems to be programming that is recommended by the Tivo based off what you have watched. Watch the last video look at the drop down menu when they are highlighted.

Did anyone see the Netflix and Blockbuster logos?
Mike @ Sep 29th 2008 1:22PM
Not only did they show options for Blockbuster, Netflix, and Amazon but you can compare the price of a rental between these choices. I have to go wipe the drool off my desk now...

I wonder if this is the menu they will use for the Directv Tivo next year. I doubt it, but it would be pretty awesome.
