DirecTV replaces DISH as AT&T's BFF, Advanced TV partner
The AT&T / DISH Network breakup is official, with DirecTV satellite service sliding into place alongside U-Verse as a triple-play option for customers beginning January 31, 2009. No word whether AT&T plans to scale back the scope of these partnership deals as it continues to expand U-Verse, but with the big guys' love for bundling we wouldn't be surprised to see the same game of musical chairs going on all next year as well.[Image courtesy GiftsByExpressions]

So what does this mean; U-Verse customers can get DirecTV as part of the U-Verse bundle instead of AT&T's IPTV offering?

U-Verse and DirecTV will be two options under the Advanced TV banner. AT&T needs DirecTV as a TV option for customers that cannot receive U-Verse. If you have U-Verse, that is what they want you to choose. You cannot get both, at least not without two charges.

FINALLY.
i've had directv for a year now, been installing uverse for 6 months.
now i won't have to have that crappy u-verse system installed in order to get a discount on my tv. woohoo!

Seems to be similar to the bundle Verizon offers with DirecTV (since they don't offer FiOS in my area). You get a great discount on the satellite service and it takes a few bucks off of the DSL bill as well!
And it only took them 9 months to finally get the services bundled.
