Let me tell you, if DirecTV tuners are half as buggy as CableCards, they will have issues rolling this to a larger audience. I totally love being able to watch the same show on multiple TV's, and when 2 TB of space is gone, I can just add more. With that said, the bugs need to be flushed out before this is a solution that my parents or even the average consumer can stand.

I can't wait for DirecTV integration, but for now the CableCards will have to do. Even with all of the bugs, there is no way I will ever revert to the crappy DVR's the cable or sat companies tout as great pieces of hardware.

Hurry up Microsoft and DirecTV.....it is 2008 for cryin out loud.

CJRAY

Comments on DirecTV's Media Center Tuner still not on track for this year

For thos of you that dont know The succesion of windows is something like:

Windows 3.1
Windows 95 + 98 = Windows 4
Windows XP = Windows 5
Windows Vista= Windows 6
Windows ? = Windows 7

Cin0s3

Comments on DirecTV's Media Center Tuner still not on track for this year

It is actually this way:

Windows for Workgroups 3.1
Windows NT 3.5
Windows NT 4
Windows 2000 (5.0)
Windows XP (5.1)
Windows 2003 (5.2)
Windows Vista/2008 (6.0)
Windows 7

There was a fork in the road after Windows 3.1. There was the consumer Windows 95/98/Me and then there was the business oriented Windows NT. Windows XP was the first OS that combined consumer and business together again, but it was ultimately based off the NT legacy. Windows 7 will probably be more like a 6.1.
