We've waited ages for a
real-deal pico projector
from Toshiba (or anyone
reputable, quite frankly), and it's looking all the more likely that we'll be absolutely bombarded with them come CES 2009. At any rate, Toshiba is apparently close to putting the finishing touches on its LED Pico Projector, which weighs in at 100-grams and measures 10- x 4.5- x 1.7-centimeters in size. Outside of that, specifications are few and far between, but you can catch a video of its powers in the link below.
[Thanks, Jan]

That's a very desirable gadget. I'd be worried about the resolution but the form factor is amazing.

There's no way this can be any good. I mean, come on...Toshiba? They're the same company that went it alone with HD DVD which was such a monumental failure it's impossible to think how they could ever design anything worth buying ever again.
Btw, what's the resolution on this projector?

Since Toshiba was one of the key developers of DVD, I think it is rather one-eyed to think that they would not be able to engineer a good product. As for HD-DVD, I think that it was Tosh's marketing department that failed, rather than R&D.
That being said, I have absolutely no idea if this particular product is any good, but knocking it down on the basis of HD-DVD is just prejudice IMO.

this sounds like a cool idea to pair this in your pocket with an ipod or other DAP player. got a cool video you want to show some1 off your phone/ media player? project it onto a wall, rather then have 30 people try an squeeze a peak at your screen or pass your device around for 2 hours so they all get a look.

i'd like to put one of these in my car, as well as a screen that velcros to the ceiling, then comes down right in front of the windshield. then fold down the fron seats and sit in the back and enjoy.
