Chicago's CBS 2 going HD on September 22nd
With practically every other broadcast station in Chicago already beaming out local news in HD, we can only say that it's about time CBS 2 made its move. As the station slides to a new headquarters at Dearborn and Washington Streets across from Daley Plaza, it will also begin airing its newscasts in beautiful high-definition. We're hearing that ratings have been on the decline of late (that's what you get for not keeping with the program!), but hopefully the switch to HD will be a shot in the arm, er, meter. Give it a look on September 22nd.[Thanks, Stephen]

Great, except that their sucky low digital transmission on channel 3 makes it impossible to get their OTA signal unless you are within 10 miles (maybe up to 20!) of the transmitter. Supposedly they are switching to channel 12 in Feb., but come on!

Blah...channel 2 was easily the worst news in the city BEFORE high def. If they were first to the HD party I may have watched them, but being last leaves them way behind still. Channels 7 and 9 are definitely the place to go for news in Chicago now.

Lets check our checklist for HD News in Chicago
CBS - Yes
NBC - Yes
WGN - Yes
ABC - Yes
FOX - No? Fox News Chicago is the last news network to switch over to HD Broadcast.

I live in the south loop and I can't even get channel 2. With CSI and now Survivor in HD, I BADLY want Feb, 17th to come. I don't know why CBS got such a terrible frequency to begin with, but I obviously won't be able to see it until February.

Seems odd that a station that has known about its very poor tv transmission signals, that they have allowed it to go on this long... Kinda wonder who's in charge.

THE PICTURE IS GOOD, BUT THE SOUND IS BAD. EVERYONE WHERE I WORK (ABOUT 100 EMPLOYEES) ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS. THERE SEEMS TO BE AN ECHO SOMETIMES, A CRACKLY NOISE IN THE BACKGROUND, AND THE WORST IS SOMETIMES WE GET NO SOUND FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES. I WAS WATCHING BILL CLINTON ON THE DAVID LETTERMAN SHOW THE OTHER NIGHT AND I HEARD NOTHING THAT WAS SAID.

i live in lakeview, get most of the dtv signals (w/ my received box), but can't even pick up this channel. this is very annoying. When we first moved here, we barely picked up the station, and it would horribly pixilate every time a train would go by. So I set my receiver to autotune itself, and now I don't even get the channel at all. Nothing! Nada! Zip. I have a multidirectional, DTV/HDTV receiver w/ pre-amp, and yet I get nothing for channel 2. WTF?!? this frustrates us to no end, but there's nobody who'll answer that they acknowledge their product sucks...especially in the city. And i live in a rental, so i'm not gonna put a rooftop antenna up!
