Oprah & Ellen & Dr. Phil & Entertainment Tonight & The Insider enter HD tomorrow

We know, you're all politics, sports, tech and other "serious" subjects when it comes to your HDTV programming schedule, it's just you have this...friend who watches daytime syndicated programming. Tell your "friend" that talk show hosts Ellen, Oprah (only a year after initially rumored) and Dr. Phil will all make the jump to glorious high definition. Later in the day, Entertainment Tonight and The Insider make the jump to 720p/1080i (depending on your local station and if they're ready to handle syndicated HD at all), complete with newly built sets and likely a few extra layers of makeup. Anything else your "friend" is still waiting to see get a resolution bump? Check after the break for a video tour of ET's new HDTV-ready digs.Read - Dr. Phil

But... Maury and Jerry Springer aren't HD yet!
I mean, we need *You Are NOT The Father* dances in HD!

As exciting as this news is, it won't make a darned bit of difference in Kansas City. See, the only affiliate capable of showing HD syndicated shows doesn't carry any of these programs. For now we're still stuck with only Jeopardy! and Wheel in HD.

The ET video started by itself and scared me.
Who really wants to see Oprah in that much detail. all they're gonna see is an inch of airbrushed on make-up ala Regis.

The More HD content the better. Maybe in two years you will see almost no SD content in original programming.

I just tuned to the Ellen show..no HD. Isn't today (Sept 8) supposed to be when it goes HD? Oprah, on the other hand appears to have switched to HD.

I didn't watch but I caught a youtube clip and it's definitely from the new studio and in widescreen, it may depend if your local affiliate is ready to handle the HD syndication yet.

The Ellen Show & Oprah arent airing in HD on WBALTV (NBC). About Dr. Phil and ET I have yet to see anything as they air on WJZ (CBS)

Oprah was in HD in Atlanta on WSB. Dr. Phil was SD on WXIA eventhough when they aired Wheel and Jeopardy in the past, they were in HD (they also own WATL and moved those shows to there and they are aired there in HD).
Ellen airs at 5 here on WGCL, but the US Open pre-empted.

Ellen did not air in HD in Los Angeles on Monday. Oprah did air in HD.
