We hate to say we called it, but our complete
in-the-dark guess of just under four C-notes was right on the money. LG has just announced that it's
BD300 Network Blu-ray player (and
Netflix streamer) will begin shipping to national retailers (Best Buy, Circuit City, Bass Pro Shops, etc.) next month (as in, a month later than
initially anticipated) for $399.95. Not the cheapest BonusView-enabled deck in the mix, but given the Netflix functionality tossed in on the side, we can still see quite a few folks joining the BD camp with this one. Matter of fact, we'll just go ahead and ask -- is this your ticket into the Blu?

Not at that price, twice the price of a standard DVD player yes, 4-5 more, no.

we'll see how this flies if ISP's start throttling or imposing caps on residential connections.

This may be the player I want to get at Christmas time. The Netflix capability will be useful for me.

this quite possibly might push me over the edge. I made the other choice who's name shall not be mentioned and have been hesitant to invest again.

I may go for this, I also invested in the red camp and was pretty letdown...Netflix is great although streaming video in standard def is not idea....maybe I'll splurge and go for the PS3 with DVR

It will be my ticket into the Blu-camp. I have actually been waiting since late July for this to come out. Being a big Netflix user, I've been pretty excited to see it launch. Not to mention that I wont ever have a hassle with it's remote controlling my LG tv.

Abt Electronics is now selling for $349.00. I pre-ordered on Wednesday at $399, called today and they're adjusting my order to reflect $349. So I guess the answer is Yes. I'm in.

(Figures that the price of the unit will get offset by my cable bill when I convince my partner to cut back on the cable service.)
We'll see.
