Sony likes cowsumers. Cowsumers do not question whether they can or cannot even perceive 120Hz so selling them something twice as fast is obviously going to benefit them. The market machine should say that buying this cures a form of cancer that doesn't exist.
Ask yourself this, how fast does a horizontally-moving image on the screen need to be moving in order for 240Hz to have benefit to you? What sources can output 120Hz? 240Hz? None.
