Pioneer Elite BDP-09FD Profile 2.0 Blu-ray player leaks out
Pioneer's last batch of Blu-ray players wasn't exactly earth-shattering, but if you're in the market for the highest of the high-end, it sounds like the upcoming Elite BDP-09FD might be worth waiting for. The first Pioneer unit to support Profile 2.0 and BD-Live, you'll also be getting 4GB of internal storage, eight independent D/A converters for each 7.1 channel (which means there are tons of receiver-caliber adjustments possible from the player), and 16-bit color output over two HDMI jacks. Should be out soon, for a whopping $2200.

The Elite equipment is top notch I would love to have this player. I've owned many Pioneer Elite receivers and they were great! Unfortunately, my wallet is not that fat.

I don't doubt the quality of the product. Pioneer Elite is pretty good stuff. But c'mon!! For a $1800 premium over a PS3, how much better can this thing really be?

Most owners of $5,000 Kuro HDTV's (about the middle of the road for Pioneer's new 2nd generation deep-black plasmas) are not going to hook up a PlayStation 3 for Blu-Ray disc playback.

This is exactly the kind of bargain Blu-ray player we need more of if we're going to make DVD 2.0 a success!

Yes, finally: 2 HDMI !!!
One for my video projector, one for my audio controller. Why did it took them so long?!
I'll buy it blind the day it hits the net!

I bought the original Pioneer Elite DV-09 Reference DVD player for same price this is selling for. It was the best at the time. Remember when DVD players first came out, every 8 months there was the next generation coming out. My suggestion with issues with HDMI, HD Audio, AVRs and Blu Ray only being 2 years old. Wait another 2-5 years. This Player from Pioneer will have a unit just as good for under $500 withing that period.

WHAT!
No rosewood side panels?

If I had more money than sense this seems like a bargain! But since I have neither, I don't know what to do.
